You have to add your location in manually by going to "Your Location" in the map of course, but if you have already done that then did you click the auto approve or check the Approval log in the ACP ?

Very nice mod. How can I get the xbox version?

Vertippsel 08-30-2006 10:13 AM

Hello,

first of all, THANKS for this great modification. I'm running vBulletin 3.6.0 and installed the map last night. All is working fine!
But one tiny problem: I also downloaded the german *.xml, tried to install it - and got the error: *invalid file*.

Is the german *.xml not compatible with the map?

How could I translate myself? I tried already to translate the phrases but this only takes effect in the Admin-CP. As nearly none of our users is able to read english, it would be great, if you could let me know, where I find the phrases for the map.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards
Vertippsel

Edit: Some people are really too stupid (me for example..) I made changes in a local copy of the product...xml and that's why the changes couldn't take effect :) . No problems any more!

Lefteris23 08-30-2006 04:44 PM

Hi,

I have the same problem as some others...
I cannot add any entry.

Entries from accounts are added, however markers do not appear on the map.

Marker.xml has 777 permissions, so ther problem is not there.
Any ideas?!?

EDIT:
2 mins later I got it:
This works like a moderated thread if you have the option "Auto approve additions to the map" set to OFF.

You need to aproove additions manualy by going to the Vbgooglemap ME-->ME Unapproved view and approove entries.....

EasyTarget 08-30-2006 08:02 PM

thanks for the port, this is a great hack.

I had this installed before I had it linked in the postbit but now I can't seem to find the code for this. Can someone help me out?

*edit* nm.. found it in the pdf.

I 2nd the motion to increase the zoom level of the postbit link or make it customizable.

unitedbreaks 08-31-2006 03:00 AM

great add-on!

Everything is working well, the only thing that isn't showing via new/old posts is the variable $post[findme]. I placed it in postbit_legacy (one I'm using) and its null within post.

help , thanks!

EasyTarget 08-31-2006 07:59 PM

the link works for me, but it just links to the normal view of the map, not to the users actual location.

AyeCapn 08-31-2006 09:14 PM

This thing is awesome. We try to encourage users to get together for group meetings, so this will be invaluable!

JoeWho 09-02-2006 06:13 PM

Hi,

Does anyone know how to add the user-link (like in Postbit ) to memberinfo (Template: MEMBERINFO) ????

Code:

<!-- Show googlemap In memberinfo -->
$post[findme]
<!-- / Show googlemap In memberinfo  -->

Thanks for any and all help with this.

swiss 09-03-2006 04:13 AM

installed this but i have one issue.

I can not see the pin on the main map screen just a faint shadow. Yet if i click on your entry the red marker pin shows.

Any ideas how to fix this as its driving me mad.

da420 09-03-2006 05:18 AM

What do you mean exactly? Can you show me a link to the map?

GrendelKhan{TSU 09-04-2006 11:51 AM

google announced its going to start charging $0.25 per 1000 quota units for use of its API.

doin't know if that will affect anyone with Google api plugins (like this one or hotspot edition)...but just letting yall know. be aware.

Looks like it won't effect us.

Yet.

I'd like to to get rid of the image funcitonality as well. If they link to an image on a slow host, it can take a really long time for the map to render. I'd rather do away with that.

I did everything right but there is no map.

izz 09-07-2006 07:20 AM

I had a very bad experience with this hack

After installing it, all bbcodes where disabled and no longer parsed.
I had to remove all the xml files of the hack added in includes/xml folder

Did anyone face the same issue?

kall 09-07-2006 07:49 AM

I did indeed. I stll do. :(

I guess it has something to do with the unauthorised use of the vb_ prefix.. or something.

The xml looks fine, but throws errors that remove certain sections of the Show All Options in your vBulletin Options.

izz 09-07-2006 08:18 AM

After installed the hack I noted this php warning in admin options just above bbcode options section:

PHP Code:

Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /includes/adminfunctions_options.php on line 124

This may help the programmer to invistigate

Same thing here...
wonder how this may be adversly affecting the site. :(

pipin 09-09-2006 07:44 AM

found a minor glitch.

if the username contains a character like ' you get a mysql error.

Code:

  Datenbankfehler in vBulletin 3.6.0:

Invalid SQL:

INSERT INTO googlemapme
(userid,username,usergroupid,title_map,text_map,lat_map,lng_map,pimage,approve) VALUES ('2514','D'Espice','6','D\'Espice','Der Leitende','48.16608541901253','11.6015625','',
'1');

MySQL-Fehler : You have an error in your SQL syntax.  Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Espice','6','D\'Espice','Der Leitende','48.16608541901253','11.

Jeordie015 09-10-2006 02:18 AM

Is there a way to make it so you aren't required to put in any information when adding your pin?

Falcon Capt 09-10-2006 08:20 PM

I inserted the $post[findme] in my legacy postbit and it works properly.

What I would like to do is have it display a small icon instead of a text link ("My location") in the postbit. I would like to have this icon be the "button" that is pushed to cause the map to come up and display that persons marker.

I have tried a bunch of ideas and got one to work (modified the phrase that was generating the "My location" text and put the image link in it instead) but it caused a problem when someone went back to edit their location, the map wouldn't display.

I can't figure out what the $post[findme] is actually calling...

Any help would be appreciated!

I also have the same problem, and looks like we are not the only ones

Lionel 09-11-2006 08:55 AM

Looks like this error happens if you have both editions. Regardless of the one you delete, the error disappears.

It appears there is a name conflict.

I *think* it's because he's got the same name "customadminperms" as settings for both editions. I altered the administrator table and added customadminmeperms as settings and I reflected the name change in the includes/bitfield_vbgooglemam.xml and no more error.

don't go and to the same until someone says it's ok :-)

kylek 09-11-2006 05:20 PM

Wierd, Tried 2 times to get this working, both times the markers would not show on the map. Uninstalled and tried again last night, everything works fine. Only difference is this time I used a new google key.

Schahab 09-13-2006 07:31 AM

I have this same issue, does anyone have a work-around???

gyankow 09-14-2006 02:17 PM

I have the same problem and confirmed the problem was VBGooglemap Member Edition. The bit fields get corrupt, I noticed this after I ran a attachment thumbnail rebuild.

To fix the problem:
  • Removed the newly added XML files from the includes directory.
  • Uninstall the Googlemap ME from the plugs, remove all files associated with it.
  • Then rebuild the bit cache by copying the original VB install directory and running the tool.php.

I found dozens of people that are having this problem, I think many more don't even know it yet. I think the application is awesome but theres a problem with GoogleMaps ME and HSE when the bit field is rebuilt by a VB core process.

Before anyone states otherwise, you shuold know I have recreated the problem on my test box.

P.S. This is an AWESOME Add-on, I want it and I want it branding free any ideas on cost.

Each user has to manually add the entry for their location by clicking "Your Entry" when in the Google Map page.
Also, You either need to turn Auto Approve in the ACP settings on, or check your Unapproved Log and approve the entrys.

NEW PROBLEM!

Getting a error when the map page is displayed now:

Quote:

Line: 9

Character: 53

Error: Invalid Argument

Code: 0

URL: vbgooglemapme.php
This problem appears to be limited to Internet Explorer... I have reports of FireFox working normally.

I have 92 pins on my map, IE will load 90 pins then give this error. The map will display 90 of the 92 pins as well as the dashboard will show 90 of 92 loaded.

Is there a code issue in the vbgooglemapme.php file that needs to be adjusted???

HELP!

***** UPDATE *****

DISREGARD!!! I found the problem, I had a user enter his own coordinates instead of clicking on the map to set his marker. When he entered the coordinates, he used N & W letters instead of the proper way of entering the coordinated for Googlemaps... The program didn't know how to handle these "weird" coordinates... I changed them to the standard format and now it works!

stonyarc 09-16-2006 08:32 AM

In FTP, where depends on your FTP client, might want to check your FTP clients documentation.
