Thanks for the beating with words....but I must have just overlooked it as I was searching.

Hi, im having trouble with this, my style isnt a standard style.. normal things like whos online etc are in the navbar template... thus some information is missing.. which means i have to manualy add the code... anyway... ive looked at the product code and cant work out how the template marquee is pulled onto the forum?? could you inform?? something like $marquee???

cheers.

teedizz 11-28-2006 06:16 AM

Khawar 11-30-2006 08:10 PM

awsome hack, badly needed it
thanks

taydu 11-30-2006 11:09 PM

can i use bbcode or html code in the message? Can you make so when the mouse is over the message the message will stop or slow down,

Cybershaolin 12-03-2006 12:14 AM

How do you choose if the marquee will appear or not depending on which group the members are on?

Dr.Viggy 12-05-2006 02:10 PM

this is not showing up for me. i installed it on my 3.5.4 boards and it was fine. when i put it on the 3.6.3, i get nothin. i tried it on a custom style and the default. either way nothing shows up at all. it's very simple with just a product and no template edits. thoughts?

Cybershaolin 12-06-2006 05:05 AM

Hmm no answer yet but Im still asking just in case if you think this would be feasable. This would really rocks if we could choose not to show the banner for non-registered users.

Is there a way how to achieve this?

digital_sc4rz 12-08-2006 12:26 PM

ThanX :)

DementedMindz 12-16-2006 05:47 AM

ok for those of you that like there site to be Valid XHTML here is a lil way to get around it which i think maybe Atakan KOC should use.

Admincp ---> Styles & Templates ---> Style Manager ---> Edit Templates ---> Marquee_Text

then replace everything in there with this

Code:

<if condition="$vboptions[mtext_active]">
<table <if condition="$vboptions[mtext_border]">class="tborder"</if> border="0" width="100%">
<tr>
<td>
<!-- Using javascript for the marquee since W3 doesn't like marquees. -->
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
document.write('<marquee direction="$yer" onmouseover="this.scrollAmount=0" onmouseout="this.scrollAmount=$vboptions[mtext_speed]"><if condition="$vboptions[mtext_bold]"><b></if>
<if condition="$vboptions[mtext_italic]"><i></if>
<font color="$renk" size="$vboptions[mtext_size]">$vboptions[mtext_text]</color>
<if condition="$vboptions[mtext_bold]"></i></if>
<if condition="$vboptions[mtext_italic]"></b></if></marquee>');
//-->
</script>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</if>

no more errors when you validate your site on http://validator.w3.org/ from this mod.

one last thing i seen was that you need to cache the template also. which is pretty easy to do for members who dont know.

Plugins & Products --> Add New Plugin -->

Product = Atakan Marquee_Text

Hook Location = cache templates ( under vbulletin general)

Title = Marquee_Text Cache

Execution Order = 5

Plugin PHP Code = $globaltemplates[] = 'Marquee_Text';

Glynn58 12-16-2006 10:13 AM

installed and the text is wishing all my members a merry xmas , thanks great mod :cool:

kylek 12-24-2006 09:25 PM

Installed and works great. But here is a stupid question?

How besides using periods do you create a space between say two sentences? I would like to have it say for example - Merry Xmas!! (long space) Happy New Year!! (longer space) Keep checking for new contest announcement, etc instead of having 20 or more periods showing.

woosh 12-30-2006 11:18 PM

Thanks for that installed :D

girlboheme 12-31-2006 04:34 AM

Thank you! Installed it. Works great :)

JimmyN 01-01-2007 09:03 PM

Cool hack, thanks

Would you be able to add a option into the settings in admincp which can pick where to display, i.e. Everyewhere, Forum Home, HOME, etc
maybe like a checkbox would work well.

Anyway just a idea

cheers

Goat Boy 01-05-2007 03:44 PM

Would this hack affect the performance of members computers? I have one member stating that his computer works like mad. Personally I think he has a computer issue as none of the other members are having a problem.

srikanthjjjj 01-06-2007 01:51 PM

thanks lol

iBaker 01-06-2007 06:32 PM

Installed - thanks, just what I was after.

One comment, if you do have it turned off (I only will use it for special announcements) it still seems to take up some real estate between my header and the breadcrumbs - problem for small screen users where every bit of real estate is needed.

Thanks again!

look at my post https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....2&postcount=55 the if conditions are in the wrong spots. not only does my post fix that but also fixes the template not cached as well as it makes it Valid XHTML.

sinanmoda 01-10-2007 10:19 PM

Thank you My Dostum. It Works Great.

iBaker 01-10-2007 11:11 PM

Tried that DM and it stopped working.

Anyway, thought I might add that a great enhancement for this mod would be to have a date/time range for it.

I have a aircraft pilots forum and a plane went missing so I put up a special announcement using this mod to advise if anyone had seen the plane but then had to go out for the day. When I returned I found out they had found the plane an hour after I started it going (unfortunately the pilots were killed) but it would have been good to have set it to just go for say 4 hours - just a thought!

DementedMindz 01-10-2007 11:13 PM

if you followed everything i wrote there then it wont. i have set it up like that on 3 sites now and all work fine.

justachump 01-11-2007 10:03 PM

Thanks !!

rweber93 01-12-2007 10:43 AM

I have installed the plug-in and changed the font color and tried using dark blue but it stayed red. Tried another color and it was totally different. Almost all of the colors are wrong according to what the color options says they are. Wierd.

RFViet 01-14-2007 06:01 PM

installed, thanks

nytlyf 01-29-2007 11:56 AM

this hack is great

majorj0nny 02-22-2007 01:50 PM

Im desperately trying to sort this so it only scrolls in my adv_portal (vba cmps homepage) rather than on every single page via the header.

from my plugin manager in the Atakan Marquee Text i have :

Quote:

switch ($vbulletin->options['mtext_color'])
{
case 0: $renk = 'Dark Red'; break;
case 1: $renk = 'Red'; break;
case 2: $renk = '#FF7E00'; break;
case 3: $renk = 'Brown'; break;
case 4: $renk = 'Yellow'; break;
case 5: $renk = 'Green'; break;
case 6: $renk = 'Olive'; break;
case 7: $renk = 'Cyan'; break;
case 8: $renk = 'Blue'; break;
case 9: $renk = 'Dark Blue'; break;
case 10: $renk = 'Indigo'; break;
case 11: $renk = 'Violet'; break;
case 12: $renk = 'White'; break;
case 13: $renk = 'Black'; break;
}

switch ($vbulletin->options['mtext_direction'])
{
case 0: $yer = 'left'; break;
case 1: $yer = 'right'; break;
}

$Positionx1 = '$spacer_open';
eval('$marqtextx = "' . fetch_template('Marquee_Text') . '";');
$vbulletin->templatecache['header'] = str_replace($Positionx1,$Positionx1.'$marqtextx' , $vbulletin->templatecache['header']);
ive tried changing the 'header' bits at the bottom to 'adv_portal' but this results in the thing just vanishing from everywhere ? what am I doing wrong ?

I had problems with this too .. copied what you said to the letter - I got some crappy error on the browser with this and the marquee did not show.

Ive uninstaleld it and will re-install again later - see if thats causing probs.

majorj0nny 02-27-2007 06:50 PM

no one else gotten this to work only on selective pages? ..

(tumble weed rolls past in the eary silence! ... )

putergirl 03-31-2007 10:21 PM

Thanks for this, installed nicely. :)

I too am curious about some of the questions asked here.. .. like the space left behind when turned off, and only viewable by certain members or certain pages. :)

James.M 03-31-2007 10:42 PM

Very nice, i've put it on my forum, ZuxGaming.com
