However, seeing as there is a great deal of commotion with vbspace, he just asked me to go ahead and make one. Not wanting to step on anyone's toes here. However, it just seems like the easiest thing to do. I actually did something like this with 3.0.x and sold 66% of the site shares. However, if i do proceed tomorrow, it will be a script.

You will have customers for both should/when you or anyone else deliver.. We've been teased for so long I think most of us might cut off a finger for a serious (stand-alone) system. ;)

For those who may be untested in a joint/team effort, maybe you all should discuss designating a project manager for this venture?

Damn, I am excited to see this taking place.. :)

"special music band section" - it would be cool to see a generic section that can be used in multiple instances. Example: bands, movies, books, If it's generic then people can easily modify the section to fit in with the theme of their site.

If all you guys could work together (not always easy) it would be a more effective use of time and we'll probably see a more robust mod at the end of the day. It also means that there's a bigger group of people to support the mod when forum owners have a problem.

Yeah I'd love to see you guys getting 'the show on the road' by starting to develop this mod as soon as possible :)

Nice clean logical and easy to follow layout!

An excellent suggestion!

Messing the the zoints thing I beleive all the features are there that everyone is looking for an an easy editing for the users with the drag and drop, and color selection. Minus the centralization and it would be killer if possible to for another team to do this.

Drap & Drop hasn't been very efficient for my members unfortunaetly...

Keep it simple ;)

Agreed, too much AJAX isn't always a good thing. There are times that page loads can actually be beneficial, at least you know you are waiting on something.

friendly 06-02-2006 04:36 PM

I think a light and a premium version would be great. I would personally like to have the support that comes with a paid version.

vBintense 06-02-2006 05:11 PM

Just so people know the plan.

We plan to have a simple solution at first beta and add to it with releases, this way the product is out faster and tested as we go.

The main interest is what people feel they need in the first release. Please keep it to what 'need' not to over kill the time to get this out for the public.

Ability to integrate the usual suspects in a profile:
YouTube, Google Video and Last FM.

If you need someone to design any graphics (figured I might as well offer even though I doubt I'll be needed), I'll give you a hand :).

vBintense 06-03-2006 12:42 AM

As of today

Db set up done (well for the base)
Coding on admin options as of now (for basic beta).

Mr Chad 06-03-2006 12:50 AM

what im intrested in is a better profile system / member search system (like make more of a social netoworing hack).

I have alot of members that sign up to one of my forums from myspace, 30% of them say the forum is too hard to use. Might want to work on a more user friendly signup. (like add your photos, program your sig, like steps).

Also if we could add something like yahoo.coms intro to their new homepage (the flash thing). For when a new member signs up it could go over the forums and explain what to do :)

vBintense 06-03-2006 12:52 AM

Well the first beta will even have a better member search, working something like myspace's now. To search by many options in a clean and optional search.

Shaliza 06-03-2006 02:22 AM

Are you going to have beta testers or will the hack just be released as beta?

That I do not know, would have to discuss with Stangsta.

No trouble at all, will try to keep everyone in the loop.

As for the question of we are going to release the beta or have testers , it has been decided it is best to select some testers for the beta (when the time comes)

I agree, and i think that the profils an your site is a good exemple of what people are looking for, very nice and usual, felicitations :)

vBintense 06-03-2006 06:50 AM

There will be very little (if any) ajax in the beta.

Please also include a better (than what vB provides as standard) member search and who's online... basically make it easier for people to make new friends outside of the forum postings area.

Step by step... brilliant!!! I have exactly the same problem with some of my users.

I don't know what the problem is for your members...

You have seen vbSpace in action. The drag & drop system couldn't be easier to use.

vBintense 06-03-2006 06:22 PM

Tell us how it went :D

are you alone on this?

vBintense 06-03-2006 09:51 PM

Its moving along ok thus far.

I am not trying to rush it, but also working on it in a good pace.

I am not alone , I am coding and stangsta will be doing templating once I am to that point.

KevNJ 06-04-2006 12:53 AM

glad to see the updates.. looking forward to this as im sure my 4500 members are as well .. lol

vBintense 06-04-2006 05:23 AM

Well , I just got a bit more serious on it. I was working via a test site now on local host to move faster :)

I dont think at this time we will go into any more details. Remember, it is not even Pre alpha. The coding has just begun in the last 2 days. Im sure you know what to expect. Its not fair to list items that may or may not make it in this release. When the time comes, you will find out.

When a beta is released, you will be able to see the features for yourself.

criscokid 06-04-2006 01:16 PM

I've just been reading The Grown-Ups Find MySpace article.

"As mentioned, MySpace isn't necessarily the best with any of its features. What has made it a success, and promises to continue its growth (it was bought last summer for $580 million by media mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.), is the fact that it rather seamlessly integrates a variety of online tools into one easy-to-use interface."

Benj 06-04-2006 02:49 PM

wooo great work guys......

I was personnally thinking of hiring some coders for the work.

If I see that this works good, I will save some money, I just need a basic idea of what will be included in it.

Anyways, hope it goes well ;)
