What is there to discuss exactly - your own admin stated quite clearly ;

It's becoming clear to me (and others) now that this is just staff with an axe to grind against certain members. Nothing at all has been learned from the last few days and the way things are going another person will be joining the ranks of those who have left (no doubt to the joy of some).

The decision was a staff decision and I acted upon it - The PM's were half-way completed in notepad when this thread was made - Once it existed I saw no reason to continue to PM anyone due to the existance of this thread...

Logikos 05-15-2006 05:32 PM

I understand that. I hold no offence to not PMing me about HOTM. This thread was made very quicly. But...

This doesn't rule out that the fact that you never PMed the offending users.
when and before this rule was created. You had weeks to PM them. If you PM them before, none of this would have happen. ;)

Paul is also right. They didn't break any rules. Stright from the admin himself.

Chris M 05-15-2006 05:34 PM

The decision about that is something that has not yet been completely reached - Therefore PM'ing early was not possible...

Has no-one actually stopped to consider the number of modifications that are on this site. Yes the staff may well have known about it for weeks, but validating every single modification, which I am sure they will have had to do, takes a lot of time and effort. As none of the staff get paid to do this, they will not have been working on it full time, but fitting it in as and when they could. It is entirely possible that they did not complete this process until today.

There site, their rules... they have the right to change them as they see fit and to respond to "issues" accordingly. This is not a demoracy and you do not have the right to 'demand' any kind of treatment other than what is afforded you.

I say this because people need to take a step back away from the keyboard and get a fresh perspective. HOTM is not the key to success in life, nor should you put so much value in it that you would willingly spend hours of your day fighting a decision that was made in the best interests of all the members.

You might not like it, but I think the owners of the site are doing the best they can under the circumstances and this is not the way to express your displeasure.

Very well said - Thank you for your understanding and support :)

/me begins to make kissing sounds

So basicly, I should just shut the hell up and deal with it? Thats a much better way to handle the situation.

Cheers Mike! I agree!

MPDev 05-15-2006 06:13 PM

Pretty much. You should let the mods and admins do their job and while it's okay to express an opinion, doing so in such dramatic fashion usually only puts everyone on the defensive and rarely changes the outcome.

Tralala 05-15-2006 06:27 PM

Why not just PM the mod author, he'd fix his hack (remove the auto-click code that is now afoul of some new rule) and then continue along happily?

It seems like all these rash moves (HOTM poll pulled, entire hack threads deleted) are adding fuel to the fire of discontent around here. It's shameful.

Logikos 05-15-2006 06:28 PM

Exacly my point Tralala.

If everybody pulled out and you were left over, perhaps you can consider yourself the unofficial winner ;D

Our hard earn work for this month was trashed and replaced. Its one thing to recreate the HOTM, but to recreate it in the middle of one and rob the users who were in it is another thing.

MPDev 05-15-2006 07:22 PM

Trashed and replaced? Rob users? I assume your mods are still there and functioning as normal; it's not like the modifications themselves were removed.

I think what you mean is, 'My chance for glory was taken away from me.' and so, if it helps, you can have my decal from last months HOTM.

Get over yourself, LW; the drama-queen routinue is wearing thin.

Logikos 05-15-2006 07:33 PM

Someone seems abit jealous of my status around here? Why though, I just code hacks nothing more nothing less.

Floris 05-15-2006 07:34 PM

MPDev: Watch it.

Rich 05-15-2006 07:34 PM

I just took the time to read this and while I don't know you personally MPDev, I dislike you. I have been reading a few of the threds on this site today and you have gotten to be one of the biggest kiss asses I have come across.

You don't get it do you? The simplest, and "fairest" thing that could have been done was to either remove JUST those modifications from the running or to privately contact the authors and ask them to remove the hidden code. The contest would have gone on, no one would have been harmed, and this thread would not exist.

Let me make it a bit clearer.

Livewire is concerned because he worked for his position in that poll. If tomorrow the "Myspace Hack" were released, his chances of winning that poll are gone. Why? Because that modification will easily be voted as a winner as it is highly anticipated. THAT little mpdev is the issue here.

HE IS being penalised if that is how this ends up panning out.

For the record, I don't know Livewire personally. I have never chatted with him except maybe in one of his release threads. I have no interest at stake in any of this but I completely understand what the problem is.

I am guessing I see it clearly though because my head is not up the staffs asses. (I am not saying the staff want your head on their ass. It is apparent though that your lips are there.)

MPDev 05-15-2006 07:39 PM

You have status here? My bad, I don't pay that much attention; of the 44 mods I have installed your name hasn't appeared once. I'm sure that isn't a relfection of your ability, I just don't have a clue who you are.

But you do alot more than just code hacks as evidenced by your posts in this forum the past few days. You'll have to excuse me if I chuckle a little, I'm always amazed by people with such big egos that they think it is only their opinion that matters most.

Seriously, if you need a HOTM award that badly; you can have mine. Clearly it means more to you and, well, I'm a sucker for charity cases.

Xenon 05-15-2006 07:40 PM

I think it is enough now. There is no need for personal vendettas in public. Everyone has mentioned his/her point, but the main topic is been way in the background already.

If you still like to continue those personal attacks, we have installed a very nice system: Private Messaging ^^
