@neo angelo
I dont think users without a score should be able to rate games..how would they know if the game is any good? ;). Maybe have a global option if this is implement to turn it off.

I also think that the after score submitted page (on the hi scores), there should be options to rate the game their instead of the arcade main page. This could clean up the main arcade page :).

jilly 07-16-2006 10:34 PM

dont know if this would take too many queries, but it would nice to have a text total of the current amount of games someone has won in postbit.

Something like

Current Highscores: 34

and it would change as they won/lost more scores,,,

Erm... this is a forum for ibProArcade ;)

Here's some tournament ideas.

1. In admincp set the number of hours that a tournament will "wait" for players to complete their game. (For example, 72 hours) - all in increments of 24 hours to make it easy.

2. Once a member joins a tournament, if 24 hours goes by and they haven't played their game, they get a reminder PM:

1st Reminder - Pingu Slap Tournament (name of tournament goes here - Pingu Slap my sample game )
This is a reminder that you have entered the Pingu Slap Tournament, but have not yet played your game. You have 72 more hours to play your game, or you will be disqualified from this tournament. Click here to go play your game!

then, after 24 more hours:

2nd Reminder - Pingu Slap Tournament
This is a reminder that you have entered the Pingu Slap Tournament, but have not yet played your game. You have 48 more hours to play your game, or you will be disqualified from this tournament. Click here to go play your game!

then, after 24 more hours:

3rd Reminder - Pingu Slap Tournament
This is a reminder that you have entered the Pingu Slap Tournament, but have not yet played your game. You have 24 more hours to play your game, or you will be disqualified from this tournament. Click here to go play your game!

then if they do not play, they get automatically disqualified, and receive this message:

Time-Out Disqualification - Pingu Slap Tournament
We are sorry to inform you that you have been disqualified from the Pingu Slap Tournament for failure to complete your game. If you are having technical difficulties with the arcade, please let us know!

Look for more tournaments to join again soon, or start your own, and good luck! Click here to view available tournaments or start your own

````````````````````````````````````
This goes for each level in the tournament - so for the first game they have to play, the clock starts and they get their reminders - then if they play and win, and advance to the next level, the clock starts again, and the reminder pm's start again - until they either play or are disqualified - etc.. If they lose or are disqualified in some other way, then they get the normal notification pm
=======================================
Winner notification to all tournament members
>Would be nice if, once a tournament is over, all the participants in the tournament could recieve a notification PM
Pingu Slap Tournament - Winner jilly!
Congratulations to jilly, winner of the Pingu Slap Tournament!
We hope you enjoyed playing in this tournament.
Look for more tournaments to join again soon, or start your own, and good luck!
I just started coding such a Tournament-Reminder-System three days ago, so if everything proceeds well this will be a feature of v2.5.7+ :)
good suggestion, thx !
Another Tournament suggestion.
when you click the tournament link to view all available tournaments, it would be nice to have a link there for 'create a tournament' -
in the meantime, is there a template i can modify to go ahead and just stick the text link in myself? :)
jilly 07-20-2006 11:46 PM
another tournament related idea :)
1. Is there a way to see 'finished' tournaments and who won them?
If there is, it would also be nice if where it says "Tournaments Won" in your postbit, that it would be a link to show you the 'finished' and won tournaments..
MrZeropage 07-21-2006 06:33 AM
Yes, already included this ;)
Look on Arcade-Mainpage in the Tournament-Block, there is "x finished tournaments" - there you can see all finished tournaments and their winners.
/arcade.php?&do=viewtourneyend
Good idea (again) :)
Gemma 07-21-2006 09:22 AM
Better visualisation of the number of posts required before playing in the arcade would be helpful :)
Jus now we have the All-time Highscore,on the highscore page and in the game block,but could it be expanded on to show the length of time each All-time Highscore has stood for (on a separate page if possible?)
:)
MrZeropage 07-21-2006 01:59 PM
nice ideas all over the places, thank you VERY much :)
jilly 07-22-2006 02:42 AM
here's more!
I might have suggested some of these before, if I did, ignore me and send me coffee!!
> When you create a tournament - there is no conformation page - should be something that pops up saying "You have created a Pingu Tournament for 4 players with 2 tries each. Your tournament is now active and waiting for players.
And then it takes you back to where it does now, the 'create a tournament' page, so you can create another tournament.
> On that same page of tournament creation, there should be a link to:
A - go back to the main aracade
B - view all active tournaments
in case you dont want to create any more tournaments
> on the Create a tournament function - the ability to 'invite' your buddies of choice at the time of creation
> Once a tournament is created, if you go view a tournament, and you want to invite your friend, because you know she likes that game but probably hasnt just seen it yet, you can click on an 'invite player' link, and then put in the username, and the Arcade System sends that user a PM saying they have been invited into the Pingu Slap Tournament, with a link included for joining.
> On the main tournament page, you can view active tournaments and tournaments waiting for players - it would also be good to have a link to "Finished Tournaments", which would display the tournament name, the date it was finished, and who won it.
> Giving your tournament a custom name.
When creating a tournament, it would be cool to give it a custom name - for example right above the choice of what game the tournament is going to be about, there would be a name field, give us like 120 characters or maybe 240 - and we could name the tournament something like 'jilly's ultimate Pingu Slap Down Challenge'
or
"jilly's frosty christmas tetris ball"
it would make getting an invitation more colorful - "You've been invited to jilly's frosty christmas tetris ball" :)
jilly 07-23-2006 12:35 PM
Another Tournament Suggestion:
Have a tournament announcement at the top of the arcade, and also on the top of the tournament information page, starting who needs to play their game for the tournmanet to continue.
For example, if Pingu Slap is currently waiting for one person to finish their game so the next round can be advanced too, the tournament announcement area would show:
Pingu Slap Tournament - the following players need to complete their games to advance: memberA, memberB, and memberC
Virus2 Tournament - the following players need to complete their games to advance: memberD, memberX
Tetris Tournament - the following player needs to complete their game to advance: memberW
possibly these values could be pulled form the same area that the 'reminder' system will use - i.e. when a member is in the 'reminder' cue, their name shows up - and once they play their game, they drop off.. unless they go to the next round, and then their name will pop up again, as the system waits for them to play their game
This would also be helpful with the 'custom name' of the Tournament allowed, so if you have 3 Pingu Slap tournaments going on at the same time, it would be easier for players to remember which Pingu Slap tournament they are in..
RetroDreams 07-24-2006 06:15 PM
My only recommendation is to put the templates into the AdminCP where they should be and have them use the styles. It is a great product aside from that.
icemanic 07-25-2006 10:40 AM
how about a option where we can select 5 or so games and have them 'featured' on the homepage somewhere, this is good for those with lots of games,
or a flip side, is expand the random game option to have 5 random games featured all the time, even during the gameplay screen, this way users can jump from game to game
jilly 07-30-2006 03:38 PM
Ok, my members are really using and enjoying the tournament mode - one thing they said (and maybe it's already said in the thread here - but i didnt see it), is that they would like more notification pm's of everythign that happens - for example, you get a pm once the tournament is full - they would like to get pm's for these events too:
* when an opponent has completed all their tries, so they know they need to do or finish theirs up too
* when it's time for their try because an opponent dropped out, disqualified, etc. (already discussed, reminder system)
* when they have moved up to the next level because their opponent lost, or was disqualified
* when they've been eliminated from a tournament, because their score was beaten, or they were disqualified
* when the torunament is over, telling them the name of the tournament and who won
They also would like:
* an option to drop themselves out of a tournament
* an option to delete a tournament they started
* A place on arcade home saying what tournaments are in progress, and who is ahead, for example:
"jilly is the currrent leader in the Pingu Slap Tournament"
with the words Pingu Slap Tournament a link to the tournament itself or the tournament section
* a shoutbox or comment box in the tournament area, something where they or any onlookers can nicely goad or encourage each other, depending on the match :)
* some way to join leagues or teams, and then when they choose to join a tournament, they join it as the 'blue' league, and if it's a 4 game player match, then the blue league gets two slots and the red league gets two slots, and they play blue again red, etc. I know that's a bit more complicated - just something to keep in mind..
Stifmeister2 08-01-2006 05:27 PM
  • Some kind of time limit for Tournaments. I hate when people don't play and the tournament stays active for months.
    Some kind of setup which allows the creator of the tournament to put a time limit (days or hours) for each round. After the time is up the one who hasn't yet played will be automatically disqualified.
  • More players for tournaments. 16 would be fine. :)
jilly 08-06-2006 01:46 PM
When a user creates a tournament, is it possible for then to 'donate' or pay for the jackpot using the vstore vbux? For example I want to make a roulette tournament, with 100,000 vbux as the jackpot = I dont necessarily make them want to pay anything to join, or maybe 15 or 50 points, or something - and then whoever wins the tournament gets the vbux prize automatically?
MrZeropage 08-06-2006 03:05 PM
tournament-participation has static costs which directly go into the jackpot.
8 players paying 100 bucks each result in a 800-bucks-jackpot
Neo_obs 08-10-2006 11:16 PM
New Idea could you possibly add the date the tournament ended to the arcade modcp?
-----------------------------------EDIT
Also would it be possible to add some sort of comment system for each tournament? So like if 1 player is going to be gone or something they can type it in (like a shoutbox) and it will appear at the bottom of the tournament page only?
Barteken 08-25-2006 05:31 PM
well on my forum I have one member who is really a freak (a very good one) he has almost every highscore on every game. Is it possible to add a future so one member can only have x highscores because one member with every highscore isn't really fun for the others...
EasyTarget 09-01-2006 12:10 PM
feature request / wish list:
use the vbulletin inherited permission system so that people using secondary usergroups don't have to redo their whole forum setup.
make an administration page accessible to usergroups/users that the admins choose. (so others can help install games, etc)
here here. this would be a great addition for those have subscriptions setup as then we would be able yo offer more games for the subscribers to the forum :)
funky1 09-22-2006 12:41 PM
I think it would be sweet if it were possible to store all the games on a remote server. I have three different forums with this mod. It would be great if all three were accessing the same games on a 4th server.
stangger5 09-26-2006 01:21 AM
Is there anyway of making a Game Challenge like the one Cyber has made for ibProArcade...????
Skedoozy 09-28-2006 09:18 PM
I third or fourth or fith the suggestion to have bigger tournaments. 8 is too small. 16 would be a good start.
Also the ability to add people to a tournament via username as well as ID.
A time limit would also be good. A setting that says you have so many hours, or days to play or you are disqualified.
The ability to set how many new games show up in the new games list as well as the top games list.
ohhh....
Good Ideas! ;)
Also, I noticed the other arcade has this add-on that allows admin to set a daily drop in all scores, by percentage. I love this idea. I have my scores auto-pruned to give others a chance, but this is way better I think. Say you set it to 10%, then the score drop by 10% per day lowering the top score and giving players a chance to beat it. It also provides incentive to keep playing as your score drops. :D
Thanks Again Mr. ZeroPage. Great Stuff.
EasyTarget 10-03-2006 10:47 PM
Admin - Ability to upload games without having to ftp access your server (So you just upload to pretty much an attachment that will place it in the games folder)
tournament - Ability to make private tournaments that require a password to enter.
tournament - large scale tournaments (could be up to 128 players) where it is swiss rounds (rounds depend on number of players joined). Then a cut to top 8 where they play round robin from there on out.
gazzak 10-12-2006 07:16 AM
Thanks for the Arcade. I love it!
As already mentioned, a tournament password so only invited players can take part, and the idea mentioned above about slowly clipping scores so they drop over time, a superb idea.
I agree. That would be good.
Stunner 10-18-2006 07:34 PM
Group Tournaments
Members can create/join a group and there can be group tourneys.
Add-ons
When uploading the .xml it comes equipped with who is playing what game and for how long on the Whose Online link. Also the Top 5 newest games on the Forum Home might be cool as well.
Tournament Participants
I don't think that would be added though would be a cool add on. If a member joins a tournament and doesn't play after so long they get banned or fined so many points until they actually play,lol
Goat Boy 10-24-2006 10:55 PM
Not sure if this was mentioned already but a link to play again on the right hand side of the game would be nice for the games that don't have play again button in the game only submit button. This way you don't need to submit to get to the play again or go back and forth. The refresh does not work very will for restarting the game either.
Just my 2 cents
Cheers
admin0 10-25-2006 07:50 AM
Hi,
Example: http://www.nepalhub.com/arcade.php
Once a certain number of games are added, there is no need for new games, and also hard to find. So if possible, on the right hand side, left hand side, where "newest games" and "most played games" are shown, a possibility to show "random games" too .. and also the possibility to show 4-5 random games on other domains which others can include in their website and send gamers to the arcade.
Also, a points system that awards points only if somone else's record is broken. There are some players that keep on breaking their own record and in the same games. An award system when someone else's record is broken will make players try all games.
ArchangelX 10-26-2006 10:28 PM
I'd like to put another one in for an upgraded tournament feature. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10....hell...make it user selectable if possible. The current feature set is pretty limited for it right now...
This is a fantastic product, by the way. I use the arcade tournament feature for montly give-aways...like movie-tickets and t-shirts...so I really appreciate this feature and so do my users! Thanks!
Shazz 10-28-2006 02:51 AM
I can't seem to find any sort of fix for the 3.6
GrendelKhan{TSU 11-02-2006 10:55 AM
control number of icon POSTBIT CROWNS displayed (random or alpha or by date)
why?
-- marquee cause too much slow down (esp. vertical in FF)
-- icons are great...except for those members that have like ton of highscores (one has 100+crowns), postbit get ridiculous.
--ie: I have no option but to remove it. but I LOVE IT. so if I could just display like 8 (or whatever) crowns icons (new condensed ones are perfect size) across random order. that would allow me to display them, but not kill the postbit. :)
haha... Yes, that is a good idea. I am waiting to have to change to the single trophy, but a limit would be good.
