Your plugin is being blocked by CrackerTracker on my forum. Any ideas how to get around it without disabling either one? I try logging in as user by clicking link, and get block page by CrackerTracker. I can edit the CT coding to allow whatever your plugin uses so that it works.

You can add the following by hand to ANY link. These are GLOBAL commands.

To log in as a user:
?admin_log_in_as_user=$useridofuseryouwanttologina s

To log out:
?log_out_admin_log_in_as_user=true

bobmonkey380 05-14-2006 01:24 AM

Works.. But just dosen't work with Cback.de crackertracker. Cracker tracker blocks it.. How do I unblock it?

FreshFroot 05-14-2006 01:29 AM

No time to look at it yet.

FreshFroot 05-14-2006 04:42 AM

Well I found a fix for vbseo people, since Abe1 doesn't really care nor has the time to find a fix himself, no offence or anything Abe1. I love the mod you made and well hopefully this will help all people who use vbSEO :D

When you use this mod, it will say
"This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile"

Simply ignore it and click on your forum home button and you will be logged in as them.

All I did was add this in my memberinfo template, instead of the code Abe1 had in the instructions.

Quote:

<!-- Start Admin Log In As User -->
</if>
<if condition="$show_admin_log_as_user_link">
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="member.php?admin_log_in_as_user=$userinfo[userid]">$vbphrase[log_in_as_user]</a></td>
<!-- End Admin Log In As User -->
I hope that helps all vbseo people ;)

I added ?admin_log_in_as_user=$xxx (where xxx is the userid) after several links, but each time, all it did was log me out and that was it.

Or was I meant to do it differently?

The Realist 05-14-2006 12:20 PM

I like the concept but its open to abuse and a trusting admin.

Can the mod be changed so that when a admin is logged in as another user, the user in question username says something like "Admin Logged in as - username" and if a admin makes a post as this user it says the username as well.

This was there is no confusion on who's posts are who's and shows online who is who when logged in.

Laters

Sounds like you did it right. Not sure why it wouldn't work.

I don't know why you say 'doesn't really care'. I actully do care and it's on the list to try to figure out what was wrong. The way I see you did this fix, looks like I have a solution. Try this though. Instead of it going to member.php change that to index.php. What do you get then?

For thoughs of you who would like to know a status update on the next release, it will so far include 1) Hack only applies for forum. The ACP does not get affected. 2) The sesstions are no longer updated.

I'm working hard to get the online not to update but there are some problems. This is what is holding me back from and update. I've been working on it for hour already.

Thanks for the update Abe1 and again thanks for making this mod. I wasn't trying to insult you and if I did I am sorry about it. Please take your time on the update, no rush here :)

Thanks.

This has to be the best modification I have ever installed :)

Stoebi 05-14-2006 10:04 PM

Hi,

thx for this hack. *installed*

It is possible to hide the "Log In As This User" in MEMBERINFO if I look my own profile?

Regards, Stoebi

Nathan2006 05-15-2006 12:14 AM

BIG BIG Thank you Abe:D

This will be very useful for sorting out members problems that they are having around the board.

Now I can easily login as them and find out whats wrong:cool:

Install

Version 1.2 (05/15/06):
  • [CHANGED] This hack does not effect the ACP
  • [CHANGED] Session does not update (so will not show up online location)
  • [FIXED] Made a template edit so hack is compatible with 'vbSEO'
  • [CHANGED] Last activity time does not update now

No need for me to add more 'if' statments. Why do you need it hidden?

Kihon Kata 05-15-2006 02:56 AM

updated mine, didn't test yet tho.

Thanks for this great mod however, when clicking on Log in as this user it logs me out on the next page. It SOMETIMES works however, but the farthest i've gotten was two or three pages away from clicking on the "Log In As This User" link before it logs me out.

Please help.

Thanks.

Stoebi 05-15-2006 03:19 AM

Hi,

because it's not logically for me to "log in as this user" for myself.
Why should "log in as Stoebi" if i'm logged in as Stoebi?

Hope you understand my terrible english, sorry.

Regards, Stoebi

Hi Abe,

Everything is working perfect for me :)

The only thing that shows members is:

Display who has read a thread - Version 3

Is there anyway you could stop them appearing as if they have read a thread?

Thank you for any help :)

DWard 05-15-2006 10:46 AM

Very good port, well done

I mean there is no reason for blocking it for security reasons. No-one else will see it.

I'm not going to look at that hack, but, right now, if you look at a thread, it will be marked read. I can't stop this from happening. If you have new posts by cookies, then the user will not realize because the last login time does not update.

Haven't read the entire thread so maybe someone has asked this already.

Does this ONLY work with 3.5.4, or does it work backward with other 3.5.x versions?

No, I'm not quoting myself because I've lost it (Well, that is debateable really ;) ), I'm quoting to answer my own question. I got it to work fine.

We have 3.5.0 and it works... smoothly and seemlessly. I love it.

The other admin at our site and I have been looking for a way to log in as our 'regular user' ID's without having to go through the login logout process. This is the answer.

Great hack. *Ron clicks "Install"*

utw-Mephisto 05-18-2006 04:38 AM

[high]* utw-Mephisto can now finally test forum permission easily ...
[/high]

It works like a charm :) Thx ...

[high]* utw-Mephisto clicks install of course[/high]

Parker Clack 05-21-2006 12:47 PM

I love this hack.

I have added the following to my postbit and postbit_legacy files.

Look for

Code:

        <if condition="$post['userid'] AND $show['member']">
        <tr><td class="vbmenu_option"><a href="profile.php?$session[sessionurl]do=addlist&amp;userlist=buddy&amp;u=$post[userid]"><phrase 1="$post[username]">$vbphrase[add_x_to_buddy_list]</phrase></a></td></tr>
        </if>

Add:

Code:

        <if condition="$bbuserinfo[usergroupid]==6">
        <tr><td class="vbmenu_option"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php?$session[sessionurl]u=$post[userid]&amp;admin_log_in_as_user=$post[userid]">Admin Login as this User</a></td></tr>
        </if>

This will allow you admins to use the log in feature from the pulldown menu associated with the username in the postbit templates.
