Added a couple of markers with no problems, but had this database error after one of my members tried to add one :-

It's a single quote issue.

The update will be online in 5 min

Hello,

some people reported insert error on the vbgooglemap HSE.

I build in an extra check

Please upgrade to version 1.0.1 to fix the issue

To upgrade only overwrite the vbgooglemaphse.php and reupload the product xml with overwrite to yes.

Thank you

TTG 04-27-2006 11:46 AM

thanks for the quick update :)

would it be possible to make the info come up as you scroll over a marker ?

You want it as an option or as a standard feature.

Both are possible.

Just let me know

EDIT 1

You can test it on http://www.stonyarc.com/forums/vbgooglemaphse.php

It's operational and fully manageable in the backend enable disable option.

option for me .. might create problems if there are loads of markers in close proximity.
Thanks

MissKalunji 04-27-2006 12:45 PM

would there be a way to link it trough the calendar? like

If someone adds an event in a certain calendar it creates it automatically in the map?

Thanks

Well someone has to define where the event is.

It's very easy to link to the map once the marker is set. Just go to the list or details page and copy the URL (shortcut) of the "show on map".

That will directly link to a location on the map.

Auto create from within calendar isn't possible as you don't know the coordinates of the event.

I also would like the marker hover feature as an admin controlled option.

So, stonyarc, you're saying there's already a switch for this somewhere?

Yes dear there is :D

It's in admin.

I'll upload 1.0.2 later on

I'm adding some minor tweaks so now is the time to ask for minor changes

Ok and how would that work?

Someone creates an event from calendar

thats where you lost me

1. after that set the location on the map.

2. go the the list of the details page of that location

3. on the "show on map" right click and select "copy shortcut" (IE) or "copy link location" (firefox)

4. go back to the event and edit

5. paste the link direct or use bbcode [ URL = LINKHERE ]show on map[ / URL ]

6. save and done

Ok I commented out the eval messages for mine to work. Don't know why that is neccessary, seems like I'm the only one who has too.

I have your Googlemap 2.0.2 installed and working well. I have now installed this on my dev site and the link does not show on my navbar. This is what I have in the navbar template:
Code:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="faq.php$session[sessionurl_q]" accesskey="5">$vbphrase[faq]</a></td>
                <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="memberlist.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[members_list]</a></td>
<td class="vbmenu_control">
<a href="vbgooglemaphse.php">$vbphrase[googlemaphse]</a></td>
                <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="calendar.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[calendar]</a></td>

If I put the URL to vbgooglemaphse.php in the browser it brings it up.
Any ideas please?

Bob

Are your sure you haven't put it inside an if statement???

I think I see it

The phrase should be $vbphrase[vbgooglemaphse].

I'll correct the pdf file

Edit it's correct in the pdf. So just put the correct phrase call and it should be fine

firstrebel 04-27-2006 06:58 PM

Checked that. If I change vbgooglemaphse.php to vbgooglemap.php and $vbphrase[googlemaphse] to $vbphrase[googlemap] the link to googlemap 2.0.2 appears. Add the hse to the end again and nothing appears.

Bob

EDIT: Just re-read your post above and noted the comment.

firstrebel 04-27-2006 07:03 PM

Yep, works OK now. Thanks.

Very nice Stony.

At some future point if you have time... With the potential for so many links is there any way to limit the view to one category's worth of markers, with each marker color / category description at the top linked to view that type of marker? Otherwise, my map is just going to end up being a blur of marker color.

Category specific balloon info or limit the view of the info inside the balloon to those fields that are populated?

Strong work.

As with the category filter that is available on the list I'm creating the same for the map markers itself. It will be included in the next major release (minors excluded)

I trust the upgrade went well for everybody as I don't see any complaints.

I hope you like the new features like the mouseover.

Gommeke 04-28-2006 01:23 PM

I have the same problem as in :
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....5&postcount=25
Can not figure out what could cause the problem.
Is there a clean solution for it?

It has to do with editor settings on your board. I haven't found the exact reason yet.

Open the vbgooglemaphse.php in an editor

Somewhere in the 200's

PHP Code:

             if ($vbulletin->GPC['message'] == '' )
    {
        eval(
standard_error(fetch_error('fulltext_empty')));
    }
    if (
$vbulletin->GPC['title_map'] == '' )
    {
        eval(
standard_error(fetch_error('title_map_empty')));
    }
    if (
$vbulletin->GPC['text_map'] == '' )
    {
        eval(
standard_error(fetch_error('text_map_empty')));
    }

And comment those out
PHP Code:

/*
    if ($vbulletin->GPC['message'] == '' )
    {
        eval(standard_error(fetch_error('fulltext_empty')));
    }
    if ($vbulletin->GPC['title_map'] == '' )
    {
        eval(standard_error(fetch_error('title_map_empty')));
    }
    if ($vbulletin->GPC['text_map'] == '' )
    {
        eval(standard_error(fetch_error('text_map_empty')));
    }
*/

That should get you passed the error checking.

I'm looking for a more final solution for this issue. It must be something really stupid but I can't put my finger on it yet.

Top Job Stonyarc, a real useful addition to my forum.

i'm having a problem with markers not setting to the centered location, I've added about 7 or 8 so far and none has been in the right place. Having to edit each one manually and can't let my co admins use it, they'll end up all over the place. I cdouble click and zoom to centre and it all looks fine, click add and the long and lat do not stay the same as I'd just used so i recentre, make sure its in the right place and then submit details but the market still moves, go to admin CP, edit the marker and add the exact long and lat and its fine. using a mac/safari/firefox.

Vbgooglemap HSE is running the click and forget mode.

So when entering a new element the marker should automatically appear on the small map. Just one single click. Once the marker is there the map will autocenter on that location and change the values in the lat and lng fields.

There is no more drag to center stuff needed.

on IE and FF you can even set a marker on the edge of a pool if you want so maybe it's a safari issue.

HSE was tested on opera / firefox and IE

Changed the vbgooglemaphse.php as mentioned, but in a strange kinda way, I receive the same error.
This is one of the best products I came accross, but I guess I'll have to wait to implement it on my board, untill a solution comes along.

Can you post me a link and make me a test account?

So I can check

You can pm it to me too.

Ok people

After one week of "being alive", I want a small evaluation of the Hotspot Edition and a list of items you all would like to see in the next release of the hotspot edition.

Now is your chance to get involved in this, so please do so. I think we can do great stuff with this one.

Gizmo999 04-30-2006 06:58 AM

Maybe a bit more control over the individual text/url links, at the moment it will always say "url for marker" or URL for thread and there are times I'd like to put my own description in there.

MagiKelly 04-30-2006 07:38 AM

Installed. Being less than knowledgeable with code and the like the hard part was putting the code for the Navbar in the correct place. Sorted in the end though.

One thing I found out is that if you have the "&" symbol in your marker description none of those markers will show up on the map. They do show up in the elements list but not the map. Not a huge problem as I just typed "and" longhand but I thought I should let you know.
