I'd quite like to see this in action, does anyone have it installed publicly yet?

If you uploaded the files right, there should be a "SR Classifieds" section in the admincp, as shown in the screenshot.

I just logged out of my admincp and logged back in and now I see the SR Classified menu. I'm new to vBulletin, so I guess this is probably what you need to do after installing something new like this.

This looks pretty cool, but I was actually expecting it to add the ability to post ads in the regular forums. The way it is now people have to click on the link in the nav bar to see if there are any ads. It doesn't really put the ads in front of peoples faces the way a Buy and Sell forum does.

Indeed :p

I was just testing the feedback system on this and it asks for the "Ad ID Number", but I don't see this number identified anywhere in the ad. Is this number really needed and is it actually verified and linked back to the original ad somehow?

It would be nice if there was a more obvious "leave feedback" link in the actual add that would automatically enter the ad id number into feedback form.

Cheers,

Andrew

After some hours of template editing and tweaking:

I've noticed there really is an issue with the attachments. But it's a bizarre one.
In my earlier post, I stated.. "Nevermind, it's working now"
But I don't think it is. I uploaded a second ad, and added a different image but it ended up having the same image as the other ad. Does that make sense? So two ads had the same image, but I uploaded two different images.

Now if I open the image on it's own, it actually is "noimage.gif".. that's the url the site is pointing to. Why or how it swapped "noimage.gif" with the uploaded file, I have no idea.. lol

But it's bizarre. Is anyone else having this problem, or am I just losing my mind?

It's about time someone releases a highly requested/anticipated modification. :) :banana:

You can view the adid in the broswer. I will make the template modification to include it somewhere when viewing the ad. And yes, it does check the ad. Also, when you say a feedback link somewhere to have it automatically filled.. that's a good idea. Why have the link in the user profile? Why not just in the ad since that's what they will be submitting feedback for anyways. This will be looked into :p

I just almost died laughing. I'm here looking for the problem and all it was is that i wasn't updating the image with the right name. As a matter of fact, the image wasn't being updated at all hehe. Anyways, i'm updating the zip now. You'll just need to reupload sr_classifieds.php

I thought it would be something silly like that. Glad you found it though, that was giving me a headache. ;)

In the edit you have to do in the postbit template.

I edited the readme to reflect the change you need to make.

In your version it's:
Code:

href="sr_classifieds.php?do=user&userid$post[userid]">($post[sr_classifieds_score])</a></div>
In the updated version it's:
Code:

href="sr_classifieds.php?do=user&userid=$post[userid]">($post[sr_classifieds_score])</a></div>

hotwheels 04-09-2006 06:29 AM

:p Thank you, glad you like. Just imagine how good the premium version will be :p

mikeclarke 04-09-2006 06:41 AM

Yes, really something!
Would it be ok and will it work if I change the word "classified" to "review" in all php and xml files?

That part of the memberinfo is great for me.

Yes, as long as you download the latest version and keep the copyright notice at the bottom.

This script is not integrated with individual forums. This makes it so that you have your own classified section on your site. I will probably make it on the premium version so that it shows the categories and counts and such on forumindex if the admin will like.

bashy 04-09-2006 07:50 AM

Hi Gio

Sorry m8 didnt realise, I prefer it this way actually ;)

Great hack m8 well done, I am sure you may see more of me on here pmsl...

Where can i change this please:
Note: The price field should not have a $ symbol. Putting a $ symbol will result in your price being 0.

Also get this when deleteing a field Could not find phrase 'sr_classifieds_fielddeleted'.

Thank you :p Not sure what "pmsl" means though.

Edit: I just noticed that you edited your post with another question. That field is made like that because that field is only for numbers. Because of the integration with paypal and such, that field needs to be numbers only. Also, it's an INT field in mysql. INT fields only detect numbers.

Gio~Logist 04-09-2006 08:02 AM

I forgot to tell you guys had to add the new task, so unless you noticed the file and created it yourself, you probably didn't add it. Anyways, i added this to the readme:

Quote:

Go to your admincp, then go to scheduled tasks >> Add New Scheduled Task

Set the values as follows:

Title = SR Classifieds
Minute = 59 - - -
Filenaem = ./includes/cron/sr_classifieds.php

bashy 04-09-2006 08:20 AM

Hi m8

PMSL means, piss myself laffing ;)

this Note: The price field should not have a $ symbol. Putting a $ symbol will result in your price being 0. I need to chage the wording is all m8, specifically the $ to ? for obvious reasons im sure lol (laff out loud) ;)

Also, when you click on the add and view it, there is nothing showing the price, you have to click back to the listing to see it, Is this meant to be like that?

Would be nice to see the pice in the actual ad itself?

steadicamop 04-09-2006 08:26 AM

Q.

Is it possible to restrict usergroups that subscribe to use this system - and allow other groups to see but not post? I currently have a single forum set up for members to sell their items - but it's on a subscriber system - what's the situation for this?

Thanks .... I've installed anyhow, great addition :)

That may be a feature in the premium version.

[high]Changelog:[/high]
4-9-06
* There was a problem with a code that made it so that if you didn't have an image in an ad and then edited that ad to include an image, it overwrote noimage.gif (which is not good!). This was fixed!
* Ad ID Number now shows in an ad
* Price now shows in an ad

ZIP UPDATED

Edit the following phrase: sr_classifieds_price_note
Keep in mind that what i gave you is the varname, so search accordingly.

bashy 04-09-2006 09:01 AM

Cheers for that...I did find it in the product, edited that and reuploaded ;)

I have encountered an error when uploading an image, any ideas please?

Try reuploading the files from the zip i uploaded about 5 minutes ago. I think that's the editing an ad problem i fixed.

bashy 04-09-2006 09:12 AM

I still get the errors m8, i have reupoaded and reimported the product..?
I cant seem to delete an ad either?
I can edit but not delete :(

Did i mention you would see more of me on here lol

You cant click on the ad title either in the clssified home page if theres no image :(

ThePimp 04-09-2006 09:34 AM

When adding extra fields, the 6th input field is a drop menu (doesn't allow multiple selections or an ALL option), is there a work-around for this?

I logged into your site and it you can't click delete ad because you have javascript errors in your site. Also, i just re uploaded the zip again (maybe it didn't update right last time) and i checked those errors that you told me about, they should be non existant now. As for clicking the title, i made the titles clickable.

The light version only allows adding a field to one category at a time. The premium version will allow for multiple categories.
