Via search.php? I will try and include that in the next major release. Right now, they are not detected in search.php.

RMS-Chef 02-26-2006 05:59 AM

This looks great.
I may have a few uses.

Thank you.

uae 02-26-2006 06:55 AM

Would be cool to have the fields for new posts as well, not just new threads :)

Thanks a lot
Installed here

It doesn't make sense though really. I deleted things and they were still showing. It's like eating a cake and the cake still being there.

Edit: Your problem has been fixed.

Must have been a hack that you had interfering with it. I will update the first post with a fix on this incase someone else has the same problem with a hack interfering.

Waiting anxiously for search/sort/filter. It would be nice if it can be done in forumdisplay.php and search.php. :)

michaelbenson 02-26-2006 11:01 AM

This looks perfect, and will work great under any forum and circumstances.
/me installs gleefully.

klaush 02-26-2006 12:02 PM

Just installed - 3.5.3 - and works fine! Thanks!

Lineman28645 02-26-2006 01:51 PM

What about the ability to edit threads which where created before the implemention of the hack, but are residing in a particular forum which has got Extra Threadfields, and then add in the relevant information to those threads from there?

Same here, i have tried to edit a thread within a forum alreayd containing Extra Threadfields, using both the Quick Edit and Advanced Edit templates and in both cases they are not displayed.

Gio~Logist 02-26-2006 02:38 PM

Ah. You have to go to "Edit Thread".

If you've ever noticed, you can't even edit a thread title by using quick edit or advanced edit. That will just edit the title of the post. To edit the title of the thread, and extra fields, you have to click "Edit Thread" from the tools drop down.

Installed here

And also, an error message if you didn't select an option from any field.
So we can set some fields to be a must selected fields, just like title.

Thanks again

It can't be done, the same way you can't edit the name of your thread in a title in edit post.

bashy 02-26-2006 06:38 PM

You can if your admin ;) lol
Tis a shame users cant edit the title of the threads in general though
I aint sure why its an admin only feature

That's vbulletin itself however, that's not the hack ;]

What exactly do you mean by "it's conflicting". Also, keep in mind that support will only be given to those who click install :)

bada_bing 02-27-2006 03:47 AM

Wow I really like this but before I install I need to make sure or check if this feature exists.

I want these extra fields to only be available when starting a thread in a certain forums. For example I only want these fields to be available in my Selling Forums and no other forums. I also would like an option to force the member to fill in that field like the cost field since my selling forum rules are you must post a selling price and by doing it this way they are forced to fill in the cost field

bada_bing 02-27-2006 03:52 AM

Opps just read that you can specify which forums the fields will show up in but can you force the member to fill on the field you want filled out.

Example is I create a new filed and I can choose to force user to fill on filed (YES,NO)

Smiry Kin's 02-27-2006 04:46 AM

very nice, usfull for so many things..

took less then 2minutes to install, and worked perfectly....

/me installs

lazytown 02-27-2006 08:34 AM

GREAT GREAT GREAT

Haven't installed yet but will likely if this problem can be solved:
Question: Would it be possible to have these new fields editable by members even if the thread itself isn't editable?
My problem: Vbulletin lets you specify how long a thread/post can be edited, but it only does it on a global basis (not per forum). This causes real problems with for sale/wanted or other types of forums. So if these new fields could be edited even when the thread isn't editable, that could fix the problem. Or perhaps the fields can have an edit time-limit switch or setting themselves (just as threads/posts do).

thank you
-vissa

maybe just add the parshe to thread edit?..

nhacso 02-27-2006 11:19 AM

gio~logist, you can add option for choose color of the text in "Extra Fields"? (Admin can add color text by BBcode, Ex: <font color=" red " >Text</font>. I think if not chose color, the text of Extra Fields look very boring.

- Besides, you can develope Extra Fields can add images (Field add URL small icons who Thread Starter want add it to the thread). I think, in very case and issue if small image will make the thread have extra filed look very good and beauty.

Currently i havent installed it yet. When i try to post a new thread my threadfields dont show up. If i disable the find topic hack that i linked to in my previous post than my extra threadfields show up.

Trana 02-27-2006 02:28 PM

This hack looks great, sort of an interim classifieds system until someone comes out with something robust.

One question though. Has anyone implemented this on a system that currently uses VBA CMPS? I was wondering if the threadlist (with the info from the fields/checkboxes) will automatically show up on the latesttopics module. If so, I will definately have to install this!

Thanks.

stamos2003 02-27-2006 02:58 PM

nice one, good work!

how can I sort in the forum display the fields so, that they are on one line displayed at not every field on it's single line?

what about adding a thumbnail before the extra fields in the forum display? ;)

devguru 02-27-2006 03:14 PM

it's long time waiting and expecting feature , I love this so much.

As far as an option to be forced to fill in the field, it is not an option yet, however, only allowing it in certain forums is already a feature :p

Hm. I will need to take a look at that, not sure why that happens. Feel free to PM me a link to your site along with admincp login details.
