I believe IP tracking would be less desirable as an indicator, especially given the use of proxies by organizations like AOL. It's not that it couldn't be added, I'm just not sure that the cost/benefit really makes sense.

works well, very usefull addition to vB

will this have any effect with PhotoPost software that uses cookies for login and intergation with VB

alfaowner 02-16-2006 10:25 PM

Can you help as I cant see this in any of my code or templates:

<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ae_multiplelogins_thread -->
spanner seems to have multiple personalities on AO. However alfaowner and Another_test and spanner maybe sharing the same computer but this is unlikely.
<!-- END TEMPLATE: ae_multiplelogins_thread -->

I get this begin and end template lines in the forum auto post and not in a pm... any ideas anyone?

TJFweb 02-17-2006 01:19 AM

Awesome. I requested this a while back.

Would love to install this hack but will wait until you add this feature as I am the admin and Supermod and would like to exclude myself.. Let me know if you create this feature..

How can I edit the words "no soup for you" and the title of the thread that this creates?

VBUsers 02-17-2006 03:15 AM

cmiller1014 02-17-2006 05:53 AM

Thanks for the great plugin! Just installed on 3.5.3 and already tracked down 10 or so people with multiple accounts.

Thanks!

The text as created in the plug-in; check your Plug-in manager.

Thanks, but it's unlikely I'd remember to "contact you" personally; so just check back when you think of it.

Check the plug-in code in your plug-in manager.

Ok i have updated with some features which have not been fully tested. I have set it up to where the sender id & username options carried over to the thread poster, i have setup ignore specified users.

Sending changes to MPDev to update the thread.

Thanks

Does that mean that I can exclude certain username or groups from having muliple accounts? I am an admin and a supermod on my site and use both account and would like to exclude myself from this hack at least

If i understand this question correct.

You will be able to exclude UserID's from causing an alert notification being sent / posted. Have not implemented usergroups yet something that i can possibly knock out with in a few minutes and possibly be added in this new update before MPDev gets to it.

[EDIT] I have updated the changes to also add in the ability to exclude usergroups.

User ID's & UserGroup ID's are all settings Under AE Multiple Login Detection in vBulleitn Options.[/EDIT]

Thanks
- James

Does this mean that you have sent the code changes to MPDev and we have to wait for him to update the plugin to reflect these changes????

Ah.. found this problem, I still had HTML templates comments switched on in the admin cp

MPDev 02-18-2006 01:23 PM

Updated to 1.0.2 release with new user/usergroup ignore options and moved message into phrases. You can update by reimporting the xml file and editing your options accordingly.

alfaowner 02-18-2006 01:31 PM

cool, i will try it out now

CoreIssue 02-18-2006 02:32 PM

Wheee! I just installed this yesterday!

Must be blind. I don't see the file anywhere.

prawn 02-18-2006 02:47 PM

with the new version i only have "multiplelogin_alert" in my pms. :(

Zelda-King 02-18-2006 04:47 PM

Happens with the threads too. Those still get posted. They're posted by the right account now though, rather than the dupe trigger.

MPDev 02-18-2006 07:09 PM

Ok, I updated the xml with a change to remove the phrase and go back to the string creation like I had it. I used some code provided to me and am not sure how the $message string is suppose to be prepared using the call that was in place; so will just use the code I had originally used to prepare the message text.

Zelda-King 02-18-2006 07:38 PM

Thanks! Well this one appears to work correctly except now I'm not getting the PMs.

Just something I've noticed (not sure if this is by design or not?): If I exempt user A and not user B, login as user A and then user B, the exemption takes effect. If I do it in reverse though (login as B then A), that still triggers it. Still, easily remedied by exempting both userids I suppose. I'm not sure I like not seeing who else could be logging into my Test account though.

MPDev 02-18-2006 07:49 PM

Well, if you exempt user A, then user A should never recorded as being logged into to begin with; so I'm not sure how the order would make any difference absed on the code (since the code doesnt care what order, either).

However, if you had a cookie in place previously then the values in that cookie would not be changed based on any userid; so you would need to make sure you are testing with no cookie already in place.

Zelda-King 02-18-2006 07:50 PM

I had just deleted all domain cookies but I shall run another check and verify.

Edit: Seems you're right.

chiptz 02-18-2006 09:40 PM

5 * :)

EricR 02-19-2006 02:26 AM

Just upgraded, note that the product still says version 1.0.1 instead of 1.0.2. Otherwise so far so good, thanks for adding the "ignore" options!

EricR 02-19-2006 03:19 PM

The auto-generated threads are no longer created by the triggered user? I liked it better when they were :( Is there a way to change it back to the previous method? I want the threads to be generated by the person who triggered the event.

why would you want that? lets say you have the threads created in your admin section if you respond to that thread wouldnt that member get an email with what you just posted on the situation? i know thats what happened to us.

its better the way it is now. in my opinion.

bashy 02-19-2006 08:22 PM

Hi..this no longer tells me who they have also logged in as

This is what it used to say

Have you tried downloading a fresh XML and re-importing it.

The current XML file available for download has this fix.

Thanks

Hmmm, good point. This would only occur though if they had auto thread subscription though, yes? I see what you're saying though, I think you're right. Disregard :)

Megareus Rex 02-20-2006 04:36 AM

Question: Is there a way to store copies of the sent PMs on the sender account?

I use a bot-esque account to send the PMs to me, and I'd like to have it store copies of all sent PMs, since I tend to delete my PMs too quickly sometimes. Having a log of all sent PMs stored on it would be nice.

Zelda-King 02-20-2006 06:49 AM

Well there just so happens to be a PM forwarder product;

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=108156

m_k 02-20-2006 07:57 AM

works great :-)

<clicks install>

update: <ding>,<ding>,<ding>,<ding>,<ding>.... it's working like a charm and folks I didn't even suspect are popping left and right

the auto-post to forum is much better than the PM function imo, this way all the admins can just check on a admin sub-forum for reports every now and then
