where is the xml?

JoeDredd 03-16-2006 09:19 AM

Never tried VBulletin before but I have to say this theme caught my eye (on www.tfohq.com) and so I'm using it too, on http://www.dredd.me.uk with a little mod to the header (still playing actually).

Just want to say a big thank you to JJ and all the helpers there after

... let's just say I'm  about this theme :)

xscape2me 03-18-2006 06:14 PM

I found the mistakes with the missing icons for the forums for Thadeus's alternative style. For some reason a couple of the templates were changed and the $stylevar tag was left out or placed as $forum. It should work fine with this xml file here.

roosevelt 03-18-2006 10:44 PM

Sorry for bugging in the middle. But anyways the style is extremely good and professional. Keep up the good work!!

Here is the problem, Thaddeus uploaded a style that has been heavily hacked, the portion regarding the forum status icons is due to a product that was added on called vB Catagory Icons. That mod requires two template modifications. I installed that mod and was still having an issue. For my site I didn't need it, so the easist solution was to just revert the hacked templates.

Here are the steps to fix the problem:
  1. Go to the style manager in the Admin CP.
  2. Select "Edit Template" in the combo box for the style
  3. Scroll down the list of templates until you find "Forum Home Templates" (Should be in blue)
  4. Double click on the Forum Home Templates
  5. Scroll back down and click on "forumhome_forumbit_level1_post"
  6. On the right in the control box verify that "forumhome_forumbit_level1_post" is listed. If it is then press the revert button.
  7. Press the Yes button to confirm
  8. Repeat the process for "forumhome_forumbit_level2_post" template

JJ,

I am having a small issue. I have installed the style and I had to make a few little changes as I have vBa CMPS. I included a replacement variable for

"templates/wow/"
"/forum/templates/wow/"

This fixes the issues with vBa, however I am now having a problem with Post Icons not showing, the path is showing as "http://www.mysite.com/forum//forum/templates/wow/images/icons/icon.gif"

Any ideas what I need to do to fix this?

coconutx 03-23-2006 06:37 PM

hey are you sure you made this, i saw something similar but well better on getskinned.co.uk before.

Yeah I'm pretty sure. Wanna have the psd file with the layout parts? ^^

Btw the page you mentioned does not exist.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I've also noticed that the image for a Closed Forum doesn't display. I have Closed the Announcements forum on my site, but it still uses the normal image.

Try a fixed xml version from our forum. Maybe it works for you, too.

You have to enable the vb setting to show the closed icon if the user cannot post to a forum. I know that this option is disabled by default.

Blue-Inc 03-27-2006 05:49 PM

Gave it a go, but no luck so far. As soon as I add a variable to fix vBadvanced it breaks the post icons.

I think it's to do with the variable it uses to get the path for the posticons in the template, but I don't know enough about these things to try and fix it.

Could I ask what you changed for vBadvanced to work?

I added a replacement variable for "templates/wow/" > "/forums/templates/wow/" but that breaks some other parts of the site, i.e. post icons.

I see yours are fine.

got3n 03-31-2006 07:32 PM

I just uploaded the templates folder to my root dir where vbadvanced is.

Blue-Inc 03-31-2006 08:05 PM

How do you Install this? I mean where do you put the images. o.O!

Interesting. Since when does Jazz Jackrabbit dwell in the World of Warcraft?

Aeduin2000 04-13-2006 07:46 AM

Great skin. One thing though, if you put in a description to a forum, while using the lighter version of the skin, the text is pretty much impossible to read. I can't figure out where in the CSS I change the color of that specific text. :(

Any clues?

ruhl 04-26-2006 05:30 AM

Awesome skin man,

Installed

Snoopy59 04-27-2006 07:44 AM

Very good skin :)
I have install it in my forum, but i use Vba and the images do not appear, the url is not correct.
I did not find solution to resolve this problem :(
I tried another skin " Army " which works perfectly.
Anybody has an idea??

Thx a lot for your help

Megadeuce 04-27-2006 02:24 PM

First let me say that that is an great looking skin. Ive seen a few updates and tweeks in this thread. Does anyone have a complete set of English buttons?

also is there a way to change where these file are located. I would like to put them in the images directory and not have it in the root.

Is my question going to remain unanswered? Although this is a nice style, I'm very curious as to what does JJ2 have to do is WoW...

YHL80 05-02-2006 08:01 PM

Great theme! Do you by chance have the horde banner for it?

Also this is my first time using vbulletin, how does one make the Wow as the default theme for the Forum?

Thanks.

GuaRRand 05-04-2006 12:14 PM

I still have problems with the status icons and stuff..

I downloaded the "fix" but no clue what to do with it.
Its got only 3 files in it and nothing that does anything.

Help?

JD210 05-04-2006 03:41 PM

I installed the fix, so that the status icons work, but now I have having a weird problem with the forumdisplay, where it shows two lines of html:

tbody>
tbody>

right above the categories. Any ideas why and how I can fix it?

So you use the default phpPortal style as a master style and the wow style as a child below it and that's it?
