I asked for my money back from vBadvanced Gallery since I am not going to use the software that I purchased. They denied me. Beware!

JTMON, where can I find the integration file for Menalto?

I am using Photopost atm but I will change to vBGallery next weekend.
Why?

Well I like the idea that its using the vB rights management and the phrases system cause I am using a multilingual board.

The main feature of VBGallery is the integration into vBulletin. Menalto and Photpost are stand alone galleries with integration options.

Next is that you can't blame the authors that your users are to stupid to use FTP
I fully understand that they don't give you your money back cause the software is working. Don't compare the limit of the users with the limit of a software :D

vBGallery is not expensive and a good software I think ant btw. I am a normal customer and not working here :D

If FTP is not easy to use for your members, why don't you write an easy to understand tutorial?

In case of pp there is very good support and the guys are really friendly.
Also vBGallery has good support. I've no experience with menalto.

All-knowing jluerken,

I didn't say that my users were too stupid to use FTP, I said they were not savvy enough - as in tech savvy. In any event I, myself (who knows the internet like the back of my hand), would rather use a java applet with simple drag-and-drop than multi-step FTP.

yea that was totally rude.

95% of my users don't know how to use FTP - they can hardly format BBCode. Are they stupid? No, because they don't care.

Most of them are writers and artists. We have a few stock brokers and many of doctors and psychologists. These people are so ++++ing smart, they don't need to learn anything more than basic internet skills. But yet, they need to learn FTP because they spare a few hours after work to come to my site for what... to interact?

They could give a ++++ less about bits & bytes, Fark, torrents, graphic design, mark up, burning their own DVDS, the latest "pwnd" picture, their upstream/downstream, FTP, GD2, Trillian Pro, SEO, Adobe acquiring Macromedia, proxys, serverside includes, 3WC, cascade style sheets, CMS, Cpanel, DNS, Apache, Star Trek and living inside their mother ++++ing box.

Now look at your memberbase and tell me how many registered users you have.

Technically, vBG and PhotoPost interate with vBulletin the same way although at different levels. Although unlike vBG, PhotoPost can be a stand alone gallery or integrated the same way with many different forums.

PhotoPost can integrate with vBulletin in many different ways that other galleries cannot: PhotoPost can run in a seperate database and even on a seperate server, PhotoPost can continue to function even when vBulletin is closed, PhotoPost user interface uses all the elements of vBulletin that any other gallery offers and PhotoPost can move with you when you convert forums (should you decide to).

PhotoPost continues to set the bar higher by offering innovative features that are not offered anywhere else. The number of options and configurability is unmatched by either of those galleries mentioned above. Indeed, one author was even caught "borrowing" our code/designs during their development.

I am simply looking for ease of use (and an uncluttered web page) like the commercial photo sites offer. As far as I know, Photopost does not offer drag-and-drop functionality like Menalto does.

MPDev 07-27-2005 04:34 PM

That would be correct - we do not have a drag and drop interface, although its something we've been looking into. I think Gallery has the same kind of ability as well, but uses a Java app for the interface.

One nice thing you get with PhotoPost is the ability to change the interface with one switch - you can use the forum format or a "gallery" format like these two side-by-side comparisons:

We're even working on a third option giving users even more flexibility. My ViperAlley.Com site has a pretty clean interface with some of the clutter turned off and with an configurable thumbnail preview line, you have alot of control over the look of your pages without having to modify any html code.

Hmmm I wish I knew about that feature months ago as it was something that I was really looking for.

MPDev 07-27-2005 09:30 PM

Actually, that's been a feature for a long time - 6 months at least, which the gallery template included for over a year now. You can see it in use on my personal site with the index paging option turned on (the index page can be seperated into multiple pages versus one big one).

Does Photopost still encounter unsanitized variable MySQL errors and security issues? Just asking...
