Should this be classified as an extension or a plugin as there are no external file additions?

Extension as it comes with a Bitfield XML.

Extension: could include plugin, dB, template, but adds bitfields and/or new files
Coding mods: php mods (plus any of the above)

Hmm... This is kind of a port of my hack, isn't it? In that case, you should have made a whole port, rather than porting just a part of the hack.
