yes, since ipb goes paid only. :) well, thank you for putting the hack online even if you dont need it.
but i got an additional question:

if imported users [old ipb2.0 users] now change their passwords in vbulletin, there should be no problems with future upgrades right? since it is in the vbulletin format? :)

hm, i am pushing this topic cause i am eager to import my ipb2.0 into a vbulletin. so, if someone knows how to solve this problem, please help me.
please create a hack or at least tell me the steps i need to do... please...

please do not forget me. [i usually do not bump topics, but in this case its so very important to me... :(]

Aren't IPB2 password hashes slightly different than vB3 password hashes?

rin 10-07-2004 09:58 AM

hm. i made a decision. i will make the import this evening [ in 7 hours ] even if theres no possibility to have the old passwords imported aswell.

Yup, same principle, slightly different implementation.

Good plan, I'm working on it now, but having a default vB3 board is much better than hacking it just to get passwords in when its very very simple for users to reset them.

rin 10-07-2004 04:40 PM

ok. i am preparing the final import now. wish me luck. :)

Right after checking the database and the code, I'm NOT going to release a hack'ed version of the import to import passwords for IPB2.

One of the original design points for impex was to be uninvasive to the target database and in no way alter or damage any data in the source or target database.

This would be a clear breach of that by altering an existing column.

Combined with the fact that for a users to reset a password is an massively simple action.

I'm sure there will be a hack or patch to do it soon, though not from me :)
