ok 3 main pointers here, now Imnot trying to be an arrogant git or whatever just give you some advice as Im guessing your new to Photoshop / Web Design.
- Default Bevel Emboss is not your best friend. Play with it, use diff colours for shadows etc until you get a more natural looking effect. Simply clicking the option nd leaving it at that is rarely the case if not never. - Colour Theory, you need to learn this mate or else you cant design effectively. One colour and its mainly shades isnt a good idea unless its offset by large amoounts of white. READ :: http://www.artorg.co.uk/community/article.php?a=48 - Lastly avoid using Blending Otions and LayerStyles where possible. Small text or images dont really allow for too much of this before becoming unread-able / hard to see. Always helps to invite someone in and proof read it so they can read what it all says etc, as you may know it says "i love you mum" but if your old mums squinting away and cant red it then whats the point? EXAMPLE :: http://www.bluepearl-design.com/foru.../misc/top4.jpg However the HTML work youve done tot he forum so far is great and if this is your first skin then well done :) But have a wee read of some Tutorials and look at a few other sites to get ideas and such. If your serious about Design etc then the colour theory and such will be a great help. Again sorry if I seem arrogant, Id ont mean to be :) |
