Thanks for the quick reply nexialys. I've browsed around and I'm very impressed.

Someone posted a great spoiler bbcode that uses collapsable tables. Maybe a bit easier than going CSS and havinig to highlight everything.

There are alot of spoiler bbcodes and hacks for hiding posted text out there. A good thing about php is that you can run it without cgi on apache, and it is a little more flexible then perl. I moved from perl to php some years back and it was rather easy to jump right into php and do just about everything that I wanted.

Those two are different actually.

you can use css in the custom bbcodes, but $alt isn't css but a variable, and you cannot use php vars in the bbcodes.

A small but important difference :)

Thanks for the information.

I mean to thank everyone here.

Another question. And I ask because I saw an import messed for another board. I thought it was, but there was a display switch.

Normally the ID of a post is directly linked to the posting date. So, it doesn't matter for the topic view whether it's sorted by date or ID.

We have merged backups though and this causes sorting by post ID to look completely different from sorting by date (don't ask :D ).

How does vB do it? Sort by date, ID or can you choose?

Xenon 07-20-2004 11:46 AM

vb's default is sorting by date.

That was beacause of an old mysql bug sometimes overwriting deleted old ID's

But actaully it's easy to change if you want to do so ;) (just a little hacking :))

Sorting by date is all I want.
