It's a whose online option int he admincp. Example....

AbachoBOT
googlebot
lycos
ask jeeves
scooter
fast-webcrawler

Abacho (Web Indexing Spider)
Google (Web Indexing Spider)
Lycos (Web Indexing Spider)
Ask Jeeves (Web Indexing Spider)AltaVista (Web Indexing Spider)AlltheWeb (Web Indexing Spider)

Keep in mind that the 2nd item on the top list is labled by whatever the 2nd item on the bottom list is.

So if you do msn on the 2nd line of the top list and type google for the 2nd line on the bottom you will mislable the msn bot as google.

N/M We did this ourselves: http://www.horsepowered.com/forums/index.php

IMO, that's actually kinda annoying seeing: Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest, Guest....

I don't see how that adds to the quality of a forum?

Jolten 06-23-2004 12:11 AM

I've got to agree.. it looks just silly.

Martin64 06-23-2004 12:32 AM

Very nice looking forums rishel, but I have to agree with eoc_Jason and Jolten, it looks dumb when you have that many online guests.

Looks just like you want to show-off how many visitors you have, no offence intended. :)

Thank you for the comment on our forums appearance Martin. I guess it does look silly but, this is what I have been able to see happening as a result of that.

Honestly, we averaged 5 to 7 signups per day, on average, for 30 days. Today so far since we put that Guest script up, we have had 22 signups in under 10 hours.

I know it may look silly, but its working awesome, and if silly works, silly stays.

Martin64 06-23-2004 02:17 AM

Looks like a working recipe for your site then, congrats. :)

Thanks Martin :)

so can anyone tell me how to do this on VB3? I don't think anyone answered the question.

TIA

AN-net 08-08-2004 03:01 AM

yes it does look silly maybe add numbers like guest 1,2,3,4 etc... but i would not recommend this for large boardw with 400+ guests>_>
