I really don't understand what you are saying?, the staff should encourage helping other users without doing it themselves?

When I see a thread I can answer I reply to it, thats about as simple as it gets.

That's mainly because vBT didn't have the licence system intergrated into it. Most of the users were probably pirates, when the licene system came, only a few hundred members verified (and could) their account to gain access to the forums.
This is correct, their are still alot of un-verified users in our member database.

just a guess.. but i would say they ask because it's easier finding this place than it is vbt.. not to mention, getting "permission" over there is sometimes as fast as the seasons changing..
There is nothing we can do about this, jelsoft is responible for the part of our system that updates your acount. Contact them about the issues, doing it here won't solve much of anything.

I think what is needed are some tutorials and some content to liven it up. Give the site a portal page instead of dumping the (new) user right into the world of threads. Be creative with it - vbt has PLENTY to offer, but no one likes to search and search and seach.

Content is what you need - weather its little tips & tricks or full blown step by step tutorials.

I realize it all takes time, but if keeping the site alive is what you want to do, then you need to attract people.

My 2 pennies worth.

vBulletinTemplates has had a hard year of setbacks. However, there is new staff and a vitality behind the scenes. Hopefully this will encourage growth over there. We at Jelsoft are doing everything we can to promote the site as an official site as well.

I'm afraid vbulletintemplates will never be much more than it is now. It langiushed under bad management for too long.
It might be a good idea to combine that site into this one. All the resources in one place is much better than having it as fragmented as it is now. It confuses new license owners. They post a style question and are told to go to one place. Hack requests are sent someplace else.
To make things even more confusing there are also a number of non-official sites that offer hacks and styles.
I'm sure many newbies are overwhelmed by it all.

I must admit i was lost when i first purchased vBulletin, as things were here there and everywhere. In my honest opinion i think the OLD vBT staff did the best they could. Its not just up to them, but vbulletin users aswe;;, after all whats the point of staff on a site with no active members, im sure weve all been there. I feel maybe vBT should look more than it does though, as a template site you would wish to see some nice template mods ON the site up and working, if people see a vBulletin site that has been changed a fair bit template wise it will encourage them to search it more. Hope that makes sense, i just think it looks to much like a normal board for something that is offering template modifications.

lasto 03-16-2004 05:36 PM

the major problem is they have split the boards - now i dont see the point in that at all.So i need a hack i go to this board - now i need some help with a template modification and what happens they send me over to vb.com.Now i go to vb.com they reckon its changing the structure of the template so they advise me to go to vb.org and all this time my prob still has`nt been solved and in the meantime im being pushed from board and board.

(above is just an example - is not real)

so in my view hacks and templates modifications should all be on one board and not split.
Everything under one roof so to say.

I can see your point mate but i personally think it is much better on different sites. To me, vB.org stands out as a proper site, whereas vBT is behind. If someone here sent you to vB.com for a template thing then they are idiots :) If its a question about something in vb or a normal vb error or such such, then vb.com

If its changing vB's templates or styles then its vbtemplates.com etc :)

Also i think they were given their own sites to offer more support than all beeing in one place

The division in the forums is to seperate the threads/posts/users and avoid confusion. Can you imagine how clogged up vBulletin.com would be with all the forums that are here and @ vBt :)
