4. Allowing this as a benefit of my paid subscribers only (I was thinking this might increase member subscribers since its a good benefit/feature)
5. Allowing ONLY the user to reply (no general comments or replies within their personal journal)

I use exactly the same system as the above, for my journal forum at my private forums, except I added a hack to make it so that the last post shows up at the top (ie. reverse order), I allow them to call it whatever they want, and it's for all members, not just paid ones.

My members love it, so I think it's worth doing.

I built my own Journal System and it's being used quite a lot, not as much as I would like, perhaps, but that's just because I haven't really integrated it much with my site (ie. not many people are aware of its existance). I could easily do that, but since my live site is still a vB2 and since I'm working hard on finishing the massive revamp of the site, based on vB3, wherein it will be much more integrated, I'm not bothering with it.

It's a separate system that works fine, but in Kathy's case I reckon a forum-version would be better... However, I do wonder what the purpose is for others not being allowed to reply, but then, if it's one thread where each post is an entry, that poses commenting-problems... still, seems... weird.. to me. I'd reckon plenty of people would like others to comment..
