i too have this problem, emails that bounce from aol.com also bounce from netscape.com

This is probably going to come accross as being a stupid question, but where would I edit my smtp settings?

it depends on what software you are using for smtp ....
IIS only? or other mail server such as: surgemail, icewarp, squirrelmail, etc.

I use the php mail in VBulletin. I too get bounced messages from AOL and HATE IT. I tried switching to smtp but found that it REALLY slows down the posting of messages. Any solution for that?

for those who are not going to edit their smtp settings, i would suggest putting a message in the registration form informing the user that emails from this site for account activiation may be caught in their spam filter.
