As they used to say "Content is king". :)

People don't hang around for whiz-bang graphics - they hang around for the community spirit, and the information they get.

The more interactivity on the site, the better. However, in the end, a forum boils down to its posts and threads - which boils down to the posters. Great posters mean a great community, which others would want to be part of.

Erwin, I already made the assertion that content is king. :D The question is, after content, what makes a "cool" board?

Have lots of features. But don't overcrowd. A page overcrowded with features is all too much. Also don't add complicated features. Remember you do get kids on all boards and intelligence deficient people... hehe :p

Get a clean and crisp style. Light and elegant and smooth. To be honest www.webdesignforums.net started out for me as another boring site. But it's developed into so much more than that for me. The design is spot-on... It's unique.

But with such a big forum amy why are you asking this ;)?

hmm, till now the poll is intresting, nobody voted for graphics....

That really surpises me too. Any time the forum of the month contest ran, all I saw was people talking about the style and seldom the features.

Agreeing with Erwin here.... you can have the best looking site, with the most outstanding graphics, but if your members ain't posting you don't have a community.

Which is why a lot of people can't be bothered with the award.

Problem probably is that to get a true feel of how a board runs etc you need to join :dunno:
