I think a Nice Silver and Turqoise Style would be cool...

Or Silver and Black...

Well, the one thing it won't be for sure is dark. It will definitely be a lighter color scheme.

[high]* c-pr0mpt hates dark forums.

I'd like to see some earth tones. Maybe a lighter green, or a light reddish-orange. Anything that won't hurt my eyes after looking at it for awhile. :)

[high]* Xanthine demands orange, or at least recommends it :)[/high]

Or "Puke Orange", "Diaper Yellow", or "Hospital Waste Pink."

God, I don't know what it is with people today and their orange...

Dark schemes are easier on the eyes anyway. The trick is to make them readable and balanced. Granted, that's probably why people whine about dark schemes, because most of them out there are , for example, light grey text on medium grey highlight on darker grey background. Slate's gorgeous, but it has to be balanced out.

(Man, I don't think most people on the net today would have survived online before '94... Damn n00bs. ;) )

I prefer site schemes that don't look like they're Fisher Price Playsets for Toddlers, or that look like the earlier "neon-eye-scraping" WiRED magazine schemes.

Whatever colours you use, make sure they're balanced. Actually, I quite like BBAddOns and vbulletintemplates as far as lighter sites go.

Apart from the orange, Yaxay.com is gorgeous and well balanced, so I trust that any scheme you end up using will be a real looker.
