This would be great if it included the posts as well. like this:

"there are 2 new threads and 22 new posts"

Yes I did my own little integration and it does appear crowded, theres a point where u cant add anymore, I think the threads is good, but if u really want to put that, i guess u could request it

You are adding a query inside a loop. So, for example, if you have 20 forums on your main page, you are adding 20 queries to it = slows down the page a lot.

20 queries it's not a big deal :p

Considering the page only uses 19 queries by default, 20 more are a big deal.
