What about putting something similar on PM page to show the 1000 char limit ?

But:

If I edit a post the character counter is still 10000 even if there are more then 100 chars written!

Solution?

Is anyone else having this problem?

The character count for PMs is wrong. I allow 10K chars for posts, but only 1K for PMs. After editing the PM templates, the number of allowed characters are 10K, not 1K.

Follow the instructions, but instead of:

Quote:

maxLength="$postmaxchars"

use

Quote:

maxLength="$pmmaxchars"

AND instead of:

Quote:

Maximum Number of characters
for this text box is $postmaxchars. 
You have $postmaxchars
characters remaining for your description...

use

Quote:

Maximum Number of characters
for this text box is $postmaxchars. 
You have $pmmaxchars
characters remaining for your description...

That's it.
