I think you are trying to infer that xenforo stole the vb4 concept - that comment alone proves you haven't got a clue what you are talking about and I really shouldn't waste any more time debating with you.

To me, insisting on using something designed for the last millennium is setting oneself up for failure. Social media, like it or not, is here to stay. vBulletin 5 connects with all major social media seamlessly. Not one other forum product does that out of the box.

I really don't understand your position.

I exactly agree with you.

I have a small vB 5 site that need a minimal customization, and it work great. don't now the case with large busy sites though.

Mike and Kier were developing XF while they were working for Internet Brands developing vBulletin 4. vBulletin 5 didn't exist at the time. If you put vBulletin 4 and XF 1 next to each other you can barely tell them apart. In fact, a very large number of the third party mod and add on coders took their existing vBulletin 4 mods and started selling them on XF without having to do anything structural to them to make them work.

You're probably correct in that you should not spend time debating this with me.

You're certainly not quick to point out that most of the bad reviews of vBulletin 5 are from when it was first released. It looks very much like your opinion of vBulletin 5 is from then as well. It's not the same product now or even close.

Personally, I think it's the other way around. People who don't want to have to learn anything new prefer vBulletin 4 and (cough) a competing product.

But the nonsense that people cling to with those products like arcades and shoutboxes is useless against social media.

So much more can be done with vBulletin 5 to bring forums, web media, social media, and other information together than was ever possible with any other platform.

People with existing sites didn't want to fundamentally change their forums and I understand that. Users are generally resistant to change.

But if I were starting a new forum I wouldn't use anything other than vBulletin 5. Nothing else comes close to doing what it does out of the box.

I actually prefer vb3 only because of its forum default style. Functionality wise I’m sure vb5 is great. I just hate the look of the templates that are being available for vb5. I just happen to like the old vb3 default style.

I've got the vb5 to work with...and so far...it pleases ME...

On a side note...could this be the z3r0...I know...cause fok...that would really please ME...

I have to say that I’m extremely pleased with VB5. Functionality and ease of use is very easy. It might of been crap when it first came out but I definitely like it and I’m a guy that doesn’t like change hence why I stuck with vb4 for so long. I just wish that there were mods being added but it is what it is.

Absolute rubbish. I've run VBulletin for 15 years and migrated to VB5 at the beginning of the year. my only issue with VB5 is how long its taken to get to where it is now which cost them customers and killed the modding community.
My site is by no means small and to say Xenforo is without issues is absolute BS.

Having said that If I started a new forum I probably would go with Xenforo just to try it out but I'm sick of this trashing of VB by people who don't even use the software anymore and have obvious agenda's.

I'm actually using Xenforo for my other forum. It's not a bad forum software at all. My only problem with Xenforo are the themes. They are seriously ugly lol. Vbulletin by far has the best styles. When it comes down to addon Xenforo is full of them. Lots of mods but the difference between vb and theirs is that you have to pay for most of them.
