Has anyone gotten a hack like this to work, especially with 2.2.1?

I am in desperate and I mean DESPERATE need of having my mods be able to edit user profiles.

This can't be that hard of a hack to do for those that know what they're doing. (wish I did) They already have the built-in ability to view the profiles, I just need a "save" button at the bottom for this to work right.

Yes, and I also really need this hack :-/

Thanks

Is anyone working on this hack?

If so, I would be glad to be a tester.

This is mind-numbingly easy.

This was the FIRST hack I did, myself, without knowing PHP at all.

It's really suite simple.

Go to admin/user.php

Find the function for editing a user. And the doupdate part as well.

COPY

PASTE

Edit out the bits you DON'T want them having access to (like USERGROUP!!! AND EMAIL!!! Witht he power to change those, they can give themselves admin rights or hack into your account)

Make sure you remove the references to the deleted options in the queries in doupdate, or you'll get errors.

Then you need to edit the mod/index.php and the finduser function to add links to the new edit function.

It took me less than 2 hours to do this, without knowing the first thing about PHP or vB code.

It's easy, but boring.

Can you please give a step by step on this hack.

Psychdrone 12-13-2001 08:44 PM

I sorta understand you

But how would I go about making it so I can shoose which mods have acces to which admin powers!

like I don't want all my mods to be able to do this...

???

Need more info.

A step by step readme would be nice.

Better yet a fancy install script. hehehe:)

I am currently working on a hack that is based off this one and it's called Co-Admin Control Panel. This will enable you to give a person limited admin rights and the mod keeps his/her current rights. I feel the same when it comes to giving the mods too many rights. I am currently about 40% finished and will post it if anyone is interested.

YES, I'm interested... please post.
