Actually, PayPal has a feature called Instant Payment Notification, which could be used for this purpose. In essence, they will call a script at your server with all the info about the payment, and then your script answers back with a code verification to prevent spoofing.

I will be looking in to this sometime soon.

This system would also be used for top contributor link placement.... so, the person or company who donates the most would have top position. ( if desired )

I have a paypal account but would prefer to use my gateway service Authorize.net. ( cheaper fees )

I rufuse to make anything with Pay Pal they jacked me out of $500 for no ++++ing reason and when I tryed to get ahold of them they deleted my account so I couldnt do anything about it.... dont go with pay pal.

Sorry to hear your problems NEO .... but, I still think this is an important addition due to the fact that PayPal has so many users and hard case stories like yours are a very small percentage of their total customer satisfaction.

I thought I heard somewhere that PayPal was publically traded now.?.? If so you would think they would be responsible for giving you answers and a resolution.
