4.2.4 has been fine for a long time (its the vB4 equivilent of 3.8.10, which we have been running here since the summer).
4.2.5 is Beta now, so aside from occasional minor hiccups, it should run fine (the vB3 equivilent is 3.8.11, whch is running on the forumrunner site). |

I have not updated MySQL yet to the latest version because I host a bunch of sites and not all of them are mine and i try to avoid restarting MySQL unless i absolutely have too. With that being said I will probably be updating this upcoming week.:) ##Edit - My Version is 5.5.5, not 4.5.5 |
The minimum MySQL for 4.2.4 is 5.0.0 (for 4.2.5, its 5.5.8).
No one should still be running MySQL 4 these days, its about as old as PHP 4. |

Well there is a difference between 5.5.5 & 5.5.50, which is what you stated before.
5.5.8 was the first stable 5.5.x release, prior to that they were RC releases, or Dev releases (5.5.5 was a Dev release). See https://dev.mysql.com/doc/relnotes/mysql/5.5/en/ |
