I figured I'd have to do something custom and edited it each time I added something new, I'm simply trying to figure out an appealing visual way to do it.

Check out this site, they have free menus that work well in vBulletin. I've used many of the menus on there. Its a good custom option if you want to go that route. http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/

Yeah there is some nice stuff on Dynamic Drive that you can use as a guide. :)

Yeah actually you can use the menus they have and even resell them in like a skin as long as you do not take out the comments in the code. :) Or at least that is how it used to be.
