Correct me if I'm wrong but according to the agreement you are not allowed to remove the copyright unless you pay vBulletin a fee. So removing it without paying the fee to vBulletin is a violation of the purchase agreement.

He's not proposing removing the copyright. He is proposing removing the VERSION number which is perfectly okay under the agreement.

You can remove the version number without breaking the TOS, right? I don't like broadcasting that we use an older version.

It's not hard to find out version numbers at all... But I'm with you on blatantly advertising it - it doesn't help you at all.
