Hi there,

Unfortunately I don't believe the vB5 version allows you to send HTML mail due to limitations in vB5.

even with this Improvement Request added to 5.2.1 ?

Ability to set vB_Mail class to send mail as text/html instead of text/plain :

The only way we could take advantage of that (a three and a half year old three-line code change) would be to drop support for older versions of vB5.

It may be implemented when we go back to correct our mods for the next round of random changes in vB5.

Just curious, when was the last time your company "went back to correct our mods for the next round of random changes in vB5"?

I see there is an option to purchase a subscription for support. I can't understand why anybody would purchase your company's product support (which I assume includes updates) if your company does not keep up with changes in Vb?

I ask this because I have been waiting for an update for nearly a year. My current product is "limping" along, with not much functionality in the admincp. I have purchased a couple of your products, and "was" looking to purchase three more, including this one, if ever, they were to work. But I have to say, dealing with your company makes me jittery, because I see the lack of support and willingness on your company's part to work outside of Xenforo and Vb4.

You can see the last update dates for all our vB5 mods on our profile: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=373913 :)

We absolutely do not sell support, nor do we sell subscriptions. When your license expires, you do not have to revert to the Lite version, you can run the latest version you have access to indefinitely.

What we sell is licenses to receive any updates that may or may not be released within the license period.
Support is always provided free of charge :)

To address the second half of your question; if you were to submit feedback to Internet Brands that they should focus more on mod development, keeping the core stable so that new versions do not constantly require seemingly random tweaks (the latest issue with form submissions has happened before, was reverted again and has now apparently been re-introduced...?) from mod developers, that would help us immensely :)

If they have to introduce backwards compatibility breaking changes to the API or something else, why is there not a mailing list for addon developers that gives us a heads up?

Also, all our vB5 mods are flagged as BETA for this very reason. Personally, I also strongly recommend that anyone interested in running custom modifications stay clear of vB5 due to how unstable it is from a mod development point of view.

Thanks for the link. I definitely recommend doing research on Dragonbyte products before purchasing them.

We also provide free Lite versions to allow people to try a demo of our products prior to purchasing.

That being said, I am going through the motions of upgrading to 5.2.1 and testing the admin areas of all our vB5 mods just now. I'll be applying hotfixes to the versions available @ DragonByte-Tech.com once I'm done :)

Just a quick note guys, this change does not exist in vB 5.2.1 as far as I can tell. I've had to petition to re-open this ticket, as (unless they want me to use a different mail sending class entirely) they have not implemented this change.

Sorry :(
