I mean, hey Johnny. This board we're on right now is a 3.6 itself, not a 4. What's that tell ya?

It doesnt tell you anything.

If we were starting from new we would be running 4.1.5.

This has been answered many many times but the quick answer is this forum is very heavily customized upgrading to VB4 would be a major undertaking- and the site works just fine as is.

For what it's worth I am also someone who doubts will ever upgrade my 3.8 forum to 4.x, however I feel the 4.x series has progressed enough at this point that if starting a new forum today I would be confident to go with the latest 4.x release.

Which is my point, you can always upgrade to 4 later. You can't readily revert to 3.8 from 4 though.

3.8 is a known, tested, tried and true product. I put up a new board 7 months ago and there was NO thought of using 4. None at all.

Sure it does. It tells us this installation is working great for you and therefore no real compelling reason to change it. Because vB4 does not give you any real compelling reason to want it.

I suggest you read the post above yours.

I did read that, and definitely do understand the complications add-ons make for upgrades. But the point still stands - there is NO compelling reason for you to upgrade to 4. If there were, if it was so, so much greater than 3.x.x, you would do it anyway.

It's not.

I serve the vB4 Hater Tots and the Haterade. What can I say? No offense intended. I'm just a hater.
