I can only conclude "vbenhancer" was only interested in sharing the mod with people who were already experienced with mod installs. Personally I would take that as a sign to avoid the mod if at all possible.

Ahh I was unaware... well there's another example then:
  • There is no README.txt or README.html or any form of instructions beyond a product file you must apparently import and perhaps a few folders or files - You must fend for yourself and upload files on a whim!

^ That was humor people you can laugh now...

Given that the site he guides you to for support doesn't even exist I would avoid the product like the plague.

Well I wouldn't go that far who knows what's transpired for anyone at anytime.

You know, speaking of iTrader...

If I remember right, I did ask vbenhancer for permission to carry on iTrader for the 3.8 series with improvements, bug fixes, documentation, etc but I never heard back. It has been a couple months now I think.

I know someone was allowed to port this to vB4 and that Nex (vBenhancer) was not working in 4.x and only wanted to work and provide modifications for the 3.x series if I recall correctly.

Thats correct, its here ;

I dont know if Nex has stopped working on vb in general, his vbenhancer site no longer exists, but he last logged into here a few days ago.

Nine times out of ten I *do* get an answer to any questions I ask, even in unsupported modifications.

It might be some time later of course. That's the way these things are. We're all paying....nothing. All things considered, support is generally excellent for the fees paid.

Also, always be prepared to test out mods on a test installation first, and better still hack around with them yourself, you can learn an awful lot from doing that. And when the coders here see in your post that you explained all the stuff you tried to do but still cannot work it out, they are generally more interested in helping than where people aren't prepared to put any effort in themselves.

That's why this is a MODIFICATION COMMUNITY rather than just a free download site. IMO of course.

Thats the downside of downloading a free and unsupported addon. Officially there is no support at all. This is stated at the top of the thread you downloaded it from.
Its not a paid product, and you are dependent upon the help of other users.

Are there any paid vB4 download products which are actively supported?

I have spent 5 hours waiting for one answer,,,,,,

Which folder do i upload iTrader to when i am FTP'ing?

thats it.

Bad support and im sure this will get closed because someone feels like it and that is not a true forum.

I 100% agree with you!! people probobly gonna tell you to contact the owner.. Yea..like the owner of the mod is really gonna get back to you.. he probobly posted the mod and left and checks the board or his mod like once a year!! Most of these other coders on here.. are busy or cost too much money to help u out.

If I see one of my techs go online.. ill refer you to him.. cause he says he can fix or install anything vbulletin

I don''t understand what is up with all this complaining. You get the mods for free here. It is not like you paid for them. Unbelievable how selfish some users are who want everything for free and expect that others drop whatever things they are busy with to cater your needs pronto.

Exactly! They feel we should be at their beck and call when they want for what they want. Takes all the fun out of releasing free mods for me. I won't be doing any more free mods here in the future with the mindset here.

It's easy to let a few bad apples get to you but I just try to ignore those with an entitlement attitude.

Still would be nice if coders could "ban" a user from downloading their mods. :p
