The point of asking if it works with 4.0 is to remind the programmer that there are people still in need of their work, and hope for an upgrade soon. It helps prioritize what gets worked on and what is put on the back burner.

If they don't read stickies, why would they read announcements ?
Hey Paul, I hear ya. ~ guilty, it has been years since I have read a sticky or announcement.
- If it were real important other than everyday operation FAQs someone would e-mail me.

well admins need to start putting their foot down on this

What does it matter to you ? You do not maintain modifications on this site.

If it really bothered the programmer they can do a few things:
- remove their work form the site
- reply and explain what they plan to do
- select no support in the settings of the modification and let the end-user pound sand

Your opinions matter to you I am sure, or you would not of posted them.
I am at 1430 feet above sea level and above many, but I do not see how that relates.

I'll ask again

what difference does it make if I am a coder or a end user? Am I not allowed to dislike something because I'm not a coder.

There is a key difference here; something which you may dislike as a user may be of benefit to a coder. As Zachariah mentioned, posts from users asking if/when it will be upgraded to vb4 help to determine demand for a product and can set the priorities for working on certain mods.

These posts are prevalent in even un-supported mods.

unfortunately only in theory, in practice I don't find this to be so... I agree the "will this work in vb4" threads are annoying but I don't see any way of stopping them so best to just deal with/ignore them.

I highly doubt any coder is making decisions on what mod to port first based on if a mod has 6 requests for it to be ported or 4 requests.

How difficult would it be to add a box "Request Port to VB4" on each 3.x mod so users can simply 'vote' for mods to be ported? Then coders would have a real sense of demand.
