Have not tried it with 4.0 but in 3.8 when your banned and you get the screen that says so, you do not have a logout button anyways, nor a navbar.

google is the magic tool..

and a pretty dam good amount of people know how to already

and it wouldnt matter anyhow. if they were banned and found out, odds are their smart enough to use an online proxy tool or Tor

Also this mod is a temporary measure. They will be logged out soon. the cookie isnt permanent. after a while a cookie does "time out"

this mod is brilliant for combatting BOTS since bots can't clear cookies so if you ban a bot and want to stop them re-registering (even if somehow they manage to get past your defences it will keep them logged in regardless so they wont be able to register new names on the forums, also this can help you with member activity by allowing you to keep banned bots logged in by where you can change their spambot name they registered with, with a real username, give them an avatar and sig and they will look like legit members even if they cannot post (just don't forget to swap their custom user title to member once you've given them the additional usergroup as banned.

I love this as it means i can make those annoying spambots useful on my forums XD

I can see what your getting at and thumbs up for thinking out of the box.But I'm sure you agree it depends on what bots your dealing with. Most have evolved to a very human like posting standard and even the most seasoned web master these days, will take a second look at a post.

Often now the hyperlink is contained within one word of their content and disguised as not to show as a link.So it's not really just a case of changing their username, avvy or the sig,as the little culprit will be sat in the post..

Saying that I think your idea of using the bots to your advantage is something coders should be looking at instead of us always fighting them.

As for the mod, great idea but again it's really down to what your banning. It's a piece of software not human and it comes in all flavours, multiple accounts are created and they are all sat behind proxies. For everyone you ban you'll get twenty back.

It would be nice if this mod was written to write banned members to database instead of using cookies...
