Well, I would assume that's a temporary error. The Linux server and IIS probably have different IPs, so it will take a few hours to a couple days for everyone's DNS records to be updated. I can recommend something to see if it will work, but it all depends on how computer literate you are. You can try changing your DNS settings for your computer to use your hosting company's servers. Since their servers are updated with the change to your site immediately, if I'm right when you do this you should be able to see the site fine. The DNS server for them appears to be 213.171.218.193.

Weirdly i get "The site you have requested does not exist on this server". Also, my config.php file seems to have disappeared?

When you changed the server to Linux did it give you any new instructions? If you FTP to your site, are all of your files still there? How about your database?

appears its not linux.

i selected to change it, site came up, site went down. when i log in its reset to a windows server.

now the whole site is down?

Does it work for you now with the DNS changes? I don't know how your host is setup, so it might just automatically move your files from the IIS to Linux server.

Well, I'm assuming you're going to need to re-upload everything to your Linux site and change some settings (possibly FTP settings, etc.). You may have to wait until tomorrow to see if they can't just copy everything over. It definitely seems like the bad host is related to a DNS issue and that problem will fix itself over the next day or so. The files are another issue though because again the Linux server and IIS are two different machines. I'm glad we at least found out that IIS was the root of your issue, and in the long run it's probably better that you switched it to Linux hosting anyway for this particular application. :)

You could also try switching it back to IIS again and see if the site comes back. If it does my conclusion about the IP / server changes is most likely right. Check the email that your account is registered to, there may be more instructions for the Linux change.

I don't think you can just change a setting to go back-and-forth between linux and windoze. They are totally different operating systems.

It's a hosting thing. Some hosts will allow you to flip a switch to do it on your end, but on their end it will actually adjust your DNS record to point to a machine on their end using Linux or IIS.
