All Arguments are listed. ;)

I find no reason good enough to *block* a browser. The MAX that can be done is to show them a dismissible notice.

It is never to late to learn using Windows Update. ;)

But by the Way - this is of course a bit to hard for Boards with 40% or more using IE6. And we have only 15% Visitors using IE6. :)

Its late for my grandmother. ;)

Isn't 15% too much? You are straight away blocking 150/1000 ??

I have announced the blocking to my Members two Months before and given Support for Updating and Hints.

Again, you are missing the point here sir! Not everybody is technical. MANY people browse the internet for fun (not knowing the difference between OS and browser). They don't give a damn what is mozilla and what is microsoft, and they dont want to.

And yes, I don't fall in any of the 4 categories of people described above. I use Firefox myself and have Chrome and IE6 for testing purposes. :)

I think you should all try out this instead: http://www.otherroaddesign.com/pages/kapp.html.

it gives users browsing in IE6 a simple alert that their browsing experience may not be great on your site and a link to upgrade their browsers.

At least it doesnt block the site for ie6 users.

You have to roll with the times and if people are being left behind, it's their own fault.
I completely agree with your second reply. But it would be better when Microsoft itself would put an end of life notice to IE6, like they did with IE4 and 5.
That would make life easyer for everybody. Problem is when having a company, you have to also keep clients in mind with older browsers until they finally upgrade, which sometimes takes too long indeed.

@Sweeks: Nice tip!

Lol Ive used it on our site ever since my friend made it. Ive always hated IE6 for the PNG problems mainly. Check it out it, honestly it is much better than this and your IE6 users will still be happy with it.
Heres a link to the demo, NOTE: Only works in IE6 lol

It's a great mod for things like forums and hobby websites.

1. VMWare.

2. That is of course the main application area for this Mini-Mod. :)

The Internet would be a better and safer Place if there was a Internet-Driving-Licencse.

Which will never happen. :(

So, all I am saying is rather than blocking people completely off a website, a notice is more than enough. My sites look cool in IE6, no probs at all.
