I purge inactive members and all BS posts, which makes the difference between being a big board or not. However I get the most new members, visits and take googles top positions. So its pretty relative.

Nexy is right: you can start a new board today, auto-fill it with content, fake members & bots or just fake the stats. All hacks are available here. You would have a big board tomorrow. It makes little sense to base a ranking on such stats.
