Yea, i agree. That Web Development toolbar always came in handy, along with other plugins and features that Mozilla was great for. Problem is that Speed definitely could have been better. Using Google Chrome for now to see how things go, haven't uninstalled Firefox just yet.

I also liked how Firefox rendered pages as oppose to IE. At a first glance, Chrome is similar to Firefox in terms of rendering. First thing i noticed was resized <img> tags display nicely on Chrome too and they definitely don't on IE :p At least not all the time.

I think i forgot to mention something:
Where's IE's Download Manager?
Am i missing something or is IT missing the Download Manager?

Theres a web development tool bar for IE as well.

After I discovered IE had alot of the same useful addons FireFox did, i hardly ever use FF any more.

What's the official add-ons directly for IE? Have you checked out Chrome?

http://www.ieaddons.com/en/extensions/. Though IE8 has a more powerful equivalent of the Web Developer Toolbar built-in by default. Just hit F12 on any page.

I prefer IE but currently use Firefox for a wider variety of addons... Had to make the Firefox interface look like IE7/8 as well. Can't stand the default Firefox icons and interface.

Have checked out Chrome but didn't like it. Didn't have enough features. I mean you can't even sort bookmarks into folders. Its too minimalist for my tastes over all.

I wonder why that is. Maybe it's because the wealthiest company in the world makes it.

IE8 does load pages quicker than Firefox, even pages loaded from localhost. The downfall is trying to load IE when your CPU usage is high. For example if I'm using ConvertXToDVD and I try to load IE (which is set to Google IG) it'll bring up a white page and just sit there. If I try and do anything it'll crash. If I launch Firefox it'll take about ten seconds to load up but once it does it runs very smooth.

I think Microsoft made IE with too much ego. When you launch it IE will say "Someone clicked on me, I must get it front of the line without any consideration for other running applications.":)

I use IE for checking Layouts in IE... thats it :P

Firefox 3 (preferd FF2 :() is my constant browser

Hrm, well, I don't get the same experience I hear other's getting. I really don't think either browser gets it completely right. I find pages load just a wee bit faster in FireFox, however, I absolutely can't stand the way it renders pages. The fonts are terrible and jagged. Maybe a setting I haven't learned of, but I don't use it for browsing websites much. I do use it for watching video, though, as MSNBC and CBS play better in it then in IE. Conversely, I can't get decent behavior from CNN with FF. The TV networks seem to play the same in both.

So, I kind of use both, since I have to check if everything is working in web design anyway, I might as well. I have qualms with both browsers and I'm not one of these cats that thinks either one deserves any bragging rights over the other. They're both missing some things the other could use. I tend to use IE for most of my web browsing for the simple fact that I can't stand the way fonts are rendered in FF. But I like the fact FF saves your password on secure pages. Switching to IE mode is not enough for me, as it just emulates IE behavior, which the point of using FF is to get FF behavior, so, there you go. I'll start loving a browser when it never crashes and only loads my home page when I'm not in a hurry. Until then, I'm not hating on either, I'm just don't think either has gotten it right yet.

I'm baffled. Actually, shiny things baffle me, but that's irrelevant.

See, when I saw people trying to promote the Firefox browser, they often went on about how it was faster, and therefore it should be loved. Now I see someone saying that IE is currently the speed champion, and that makes them hate it.

I don't get all this devotion to browsers. As long as I can read the stuff on the page, I'm happy. Well, as long as the stuff I can see is good, of course. I don't use Firefox - the extremists who try to promote it put me off somewhat, but I've never had a problem with IE. I don't go around hating a piece of software. It's never broken into my house, kicked my girlfriend, and slept with my dog.*
