You could possibly say that you have like 5 beta testers and a coder or two? That wouldn't be considered general public.

Though when it comes to ideas, I ask my staff if they think it is a good idea and if they give me the go ahead, I do it. I always go to my staff for their advice.

The intent is to not have it be used as another forum. I think allowing Staff to see a new feature you are working on or help to test something new you are doing is allowed. You just need to make sure the general public cannot get to it and that it is only being used for testing purposes.

Do I create the 'testvb' folder at the forum root?

So, in essence, my test site would be located at MyDomain.com/testvb, right? Then, I upload everything (like a fresh install of vB) to that folder. Then, create my database and enter the details in the config.php to 'point' to this new directory. Is this right?

I'm not sure how to use the cPanel to setup the .htaccess password protect yet, but I wanted to make sure that I had the first part down.

Yes.

http://waltdisneyboards.com/testvb is the best spot for it.

Thanks FRDS and Lynne! :D

Now, I've got it installed and do you have any suggestions on the password protect to show that I'm not using it as an unauthorized second license?

Edited: Got it done! There was an area within my DirectAdmin to get it done automatically!

Thanks again folks! :)

Login to cPanel and look for "Password Protect Directories"

Click that then navigate to the testvb folder (probably click the little yellow folder next to www first, then testvb)

click the "Password protect this directory:" box
Enter "test vBulletin site" for the name
Enter a username/password

browse to http://waltdisneyboards.com/testvb and see if you are prompted for a PW (you may need to switch browsers, or close your current browser then try due to caching)

Yup, got it FRDS! Thanks again! :D
