Having one intro thread works well for us.

I have "Member Introductions" forum - It makes for a more personable experience I think - An intro-thread with tons of people saying "Hi - I'm new" would get old quite quick - It's interesting to have new Members tell the Community something about themselves. That said - All Intro threads are automatically closed after 30 days to cut down on the chitter chatter - The reason --> there's other sections to post in :D
