Wish you luck on your quest. I personally have no use for this as my concern is to have valid images over bandwidth.

Stop whining about free hosting not supporting images and stuff, I use the forum for a gamers group^, if the avatars don't work they'll know and undo it, but the thing is we all have free webspace from our providers here in belgium and we can place images there and link them to vb with no problem at all. But the thing is that you guys didn't include that feature, I had that feature on y vb1.13 so don't tell me it's not possible on vb 2.0.0 !!

Considering avatars were a hack in v1.1.x, that's hardly reason to expect vB to put something like this in.

Of the main hackers that are around here, Kier, Wayne, and I will not do this hack, and I can't speak for Mas*Mind, Overgrow or Bira, but I betcha they feel the same way. (Sorry if I forgot anyone here.)

I hardly consider laying out the facts whining. Just because you seem to want everything for nothing and seem to think people here owe you something does not mean we are whining.

Hell man, you turned from a col guy into a prick in less then a year ! ****, before you were more then happy to make another hack or help some-one else out but yourself, but it seems now YOU are the one doing everything for MONEY. So get ****ing bent man, you're turning into an old jurk.

This topic never really came up before I became a moderator. Just for the record, I wouldn't have done the hack then either, and I would have had the same attitude about it then, too.

Maybe if people looked around the vBulletin system and learned how to use it, you will see that a hack is not needed to store all images except avatars on another server.

If you want to do this, simply edit the imagesfolder variable.

If you really must have avatars on another server, look at Kier's Avatar's as files hack. I am sure you can make the appropriate changes needed.

In my Personal Opinion, installing a hack like this only degrades the quality of the Internet and in the long run will be more hassle than the 2 or 3 bucks you will save in bandwidth. The hassles will involve more than just a single server. They will involve dissatisfied users, broken images, increase loading times. A lot of hassle when there are so many other ways to decrease bandwidth that are more effective, professional and will make your users happy.

The choice to do this is yours though.
