I attached the working copy of the version that allows for email verification..

Import the product then go to
AdminCP->Vbulletin Options->Vbulletin Options->PB Usergroup Choice on Register

And set up the options to what you want.


A couple notes about this version...
1. It will add 1 query to showing the registration page
2. If email verification is on it will ad another query to the processing of a registration.

I uninstalled the first plugin and then installed this, but left the style edit seen above in place. Doing that led to a database error on registration attempt just after the rules, so I probably did something wrong in the process, didn't I? Should I remove the changes made to the style sheet?

Yes remove the code you added to the template, but that didn't have anything to do with the error.
Sorry I just looked through it again and saw the problem. I forgot to include TABLE_PREFIX in one of the calls to the database. I attached the new version in replace of the other one 2 posts up.
