Princeton released a mod which can easily be used to make a page inside vbulletin.

You should have a list of all the things you need /forum put in front of in the vBA admin section under Navbar Replacements.

If you're doing custom images or something wacky, this is how I do it for my header image so that when on forum it goes to the portal, and vice versa:
