Although I love my vbSEO, and don't see me trading it in at any point in the foreseeable future.
At the moment I'm sitting on the bench too and seeing how this develops. Like it or not, competition is good for the end user, we will probably see vbseo falling over themselves to add a branding free option soon.

Have you purchased any of their products? (Not trying to call you out, I am just curious what information you are basing your opinion on.)
I can offer my opinion. As a user of some of their products I was very surprised at the speed they are developed and how much my suggestions were taken in although I have to agree that sometimes there have been ocassions where things have not followed through, but thinking on it there is not one vb developer I can think of that follows through on time. (unless I am very unlucky :p)

For the vb community this is a big step forward, competition will move both vbseo and NuSeo to be better products and as an end user, I'm can't complain :p

I can't see them introducing a branding free option it would be a sign of weakness and a market leader won't want to show that.

They have always said that a branding free version is in their overall business plan. Would hardly be a sign of weakness to follow through on what they have been saying since the initial product launch.

However, the required branding does give them an advantage as it demonstrates to all potential customers that vbSEO is the go-to solution for vBulletin. (I can't imagine what their sales numbers are)

Oh sorry i didn't realise they had it planned =]
Why does it take so long to release a branding free version?
Remove the copyright phrase and voila?

Attilitus 07-16-2007 07:37 PM

Well it is probably because they do not want to give up the dominance that their required branding gives their software. It is pretty impressive to see the vbseo copyright at the bottom of almost every major seo-enabled forum.

What are you talking about? vBulletin offers branding free. It's not a sign of weakness, it would be a very smart business move to offer branding free.

Personally I would like to see a simpler product that doesnt skyrocket a server load by installing.

That was the biggest problem we had with vbseo.

I can't see many people who have bought vbseo suddenly deciding to spend yet more money on another product, it would need to be far superior before that happened. Branding free is not an issue for most people.
