Some of his mods used to be mind. I offered to give them to someone else because I didn't want to keep then updated. So, don't be so sure on that score. I can't speak for all his mods, just the ones I know came from me - before I realized there where issues.

Bah. Its time vB.org started doing something about this!

All we can do is keep posting when people get abused. They will eventually ban the abusers, or ban us I suppose.

... hambil, the point is that even if you complain a lot.. you are not the one who've been scammed lately.. you are just reporting the situation, so your opinion is biased..

it would be the same if someone wants your head because you are a great coder... he would complain that you are a crap, and do you think it would be fair if the admins ban you ?!... not really.

the only thing is that vB.org is not the place for dealing with commercial services, because they are not the one to manage these services...

the only solution is to use the more protected places to do the searches... sitepoint.com is a good place, and other freelancers services where clients can rate coders is good too.

Actually, that's not completely accurate. I'm responding to threads started by the person scammed. And I'm responding to the fact that we have repeated threads from the people being scammed and those threads are at best ignored, at worst actively deleted, which in my mind is a complacency by vbulletin.org.

They make no effort to stop the scammers, and actually hinder the community when it tries to stop them and warn others on its own. How do you think these 'coders' are able to repeatedly scam people?

We all know how to stop this, and it's not difficult. So we can only assume that vBulletin.org and Jelsoft not taking those actions, and in fact covering up evidence of scammers, means they support the actions of these scammers.

I wouldn't be so forceful in my wording, if this was a new problem. But it's been an ongoing problem for a long time, and I don't know what else to do other than be frank and brutally honest about it.

LMAO @ THIS! Well, there's nothing much to say about Tim. He even tried to get away with my money as well. I paid him like over $140 just to get some damn vBulletin chat system (which is vBChat in my sig) and just vanished all of a sudden, but hey, I got a hold of him finally. How, do you ask? Simple answer. I was smart enough for him. That's how.

nexialys 06-04-2007 11:56 AM

quite right, you were smart enough, maybe, but you paid for a release that was coming anyway... i kinda think he was smarter here... he was paid to upgrade his script he was doing for free...

kobescoresagain 06-04-2007 06:16 PM

He got me also. I reported him to the staff on this site and nothing was done at all. I guess that is something that isn't cared about on this site.

funny thing btw, the thread is not closed yet, and no admin have commented seriously...

/me will hide and seek for the reasons...

Yeah, it's survived longer than most like it. I'm not going to read too much into it, yet. :)

harmor19 06-04-2007 06:53 PM

We can uninstall all hacks from Tim so he'll be demoted to hopefully a level 2 coder.
Maybe if his release level was down he wouldn't steal money.
