I don't think this is a very good idea. What if everyone knows a member cannot be online (on vacation or something) I think members will notice it quickly, good for new boards maybe but even then...

There is a little problem. The "overall active users count" doesn't change.

I've attached an image to explain this, in the other pic the hack is OFF and in the other the hack is on, members = 0 and visitors = 20.

The difference with the fake users stats and this one, is that this one takes user from the member list, right?

Fake states creates names to display, but those names are pretty useless if people start clicking to see who is online.

Can you make it so that this hack uses the setting already in place for various user groups?

All my members are blue, but this hack is giving them a green default color.

Also, can you make it so that users with a certain email address will not come online when the hack is enabled? Reason for this, I enabled registrations from the same email address to create some extra user to inflate my member lists. I used the same email address for all of them.

Being able to control which users come online through the email address is a good way to prevent real members from coming online via the mod.
I installed and tried this and the mod did bring up some of my real members, which is bad for business. This will help to avoid any real members from spotting their user names on the board even if they are not online.

You got my vote for MOD of the month!

One other thing, it is a good idea if you could maybe modify this so that a member's online status image is also switched on when they are called online via the mod. And, it is also good i f the member status image is switched to offline via the mod.

This will definitely help to make the members look real and online.

Oh wait, if you cannot program to call members with a certain email address online, why not use a member's userid to show them as online.

This will also prevent real members from catching themselves online.
