I don't understand why people use bright colors like that... It seems like except for a few styles, I have to either make my own or buy one from the commercial vb styles.

Personal taste mainly, but a lot of sites utilize bright colors that associate with the topic of their board. There's many different reasons really, but those are just a few of the most common ones.

I tried this but I couldnt find "black_and_gold.xml" wheres that at? I only found something like "menthol-364" xml :(

Yeah - The instructions were written for another style, but the general concept is the same. The Menthol .XML file is the one you should be using.

I did and it doesnt look anywhere as the previews. The header doesn't show and I can't see any of the buttons on top like User CP FAQ Site Rules Modifications Members List Calendar New Posts Search Quick Links Log Out
That sorta stuff, its in white text on a white background the only way I can see is if I highlight the blank space and I see the text..

Sounds like you've either forgotten to upload the images or you've uploaded them to the wrong directory. All you have to do is upload the images folder right over top of the images folder in your forum's root directory. It won't overwrite anything, it'll just add the new images that are needed. If that doesn't fix it, then you might need to check the image paths for the style and make sure they're set to use the full URL. Those are the only two reasons why images wouldn't show up.

Is there a way to get the footer to go to the bottom of the screen? And How can I include my own sidebar?
