Yep I saw that one, but that's a hack request, no hack/solution... but thanks anyway for the quick reply.
It is however what I was looking for. |
ok, ive already made it (it works on my home page) but dont know how well it works on different browsers setups.
Downloading Rss feed on the fly can be quite anoying for users, so I have made it in ajax style, so the downloading is done only once the page is displayed, and its downloaded to the loacal domain. It also checks to see how old the RSS feed is before downloading again (ive set my one to only download once a day... this will only happen once (the 1st user to the forum), reducing bandwith use Because its java, some old computers will diplay this with a bit of lag, but suits my needs, I'll have to play around with it to make it admin friendly. Would it be any use to you? Would you mind if I didnt make it as a pluggin, but code that you can add your style manager (I have no exp in making pluggins) |
Well it might be indeed. If it's made as code that's not a problem. If it won't work or takes to much template edits I think I will change to my other idea.
The other idea is to put RSS feeds in a thread which is already standard possible, just have to look for a way that they don't show up as new posts when users check for new posts and they don't show as new posts in the vBA statistics on the portal. Maybe that is an easyer solution. |
