Multiple personalities is the way forward.

i.e., have FF, IE, and Opera on your PC, create 3 usernames and log into each (one on each browser). Then sit and chat to yourself for a bit. Repeat each day. After about a week, create one more username and replace one of the logged in ones with that for a few days, then swap back again.

As long as you don't get caught out doing it, then you can get away with it for quite a long time.

Why does you talking to yourself really not surprise me? :cross-eyed:

The only way to get more people to join in is to have activity. Getting people to register doesn't make active posters.

By having activity, even by talking to yourself, encourages other people who register to particpate.

Because you know me too well :p

Anyway, sometimes it's the only way that you can get someone to agree with you, and if they don't then there is nothing like a good agruement with yourself.

Basically the only people who are going to join are owners of other sites who will never come back after registering.

You better off just making fake usernames on your own.

really so then have you been to adminzone ?? did those members never come back? lol

postfusion is a way to exchange good posts and tutorials with other admins and mods. if you post 5 posts on my site and we have agreed thru postfusion then i will do the same on your site and it will be tracked. a good thing for people that dont want to make fake names. whats the point of that?

Well TAZ is an exception to the rule. It will not work like that for every site. And to just make posts on a site that you have no real interest or investment in to get your members numbers up, doesn't make a lot of sense to me, I guess. Everyone is more worried about numbers these days instead of just having fun and running a site to best you know how, which is what will bring members in eventually.

if TAZ is an exception ok then. but that doesnt mean that AF will not be a success. the system they have set up there is exclusive to AF and works great. if you have time check it out.

true about the numbers comment , but thats because there are so many forums. im sure everyone here has a complete list of competitors sites so ofcourse everyone wants the most members.

I think you're idea is great for those that want that. But numbers mean nothing to me if the site isn't giving its members what they want or need. And they won't stay if that happens. Believe it or not, my type of site doesn't have a whole lot of competition yet, and I don't see it changing any time soon, as our subject matter is both serious and depressing at the same time. Right now I only have 27 members, but as long as those members can find something on the site that works for them, then I don't care if I ever have any more. I've always believed that if my site can help just one person, then it is worth everything that I had to do to get it to that point.
